  2. A flock of vultures were waiting for me at my apartment when I returned from breakfast this morning. They know where I live. Went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet ...more north jetty this evening on a cold, sunny day on the incoming tide after the new moon and during a north wind small craft advisory. It wasn’t crowded. Got the first parking spot again. Only one spear fisherman, 3 surfers 🏄‍♂️ and 8 fishermen were there. Everyone stayed away from me. It was a fun trip. Caught, tagged and released an out of season, undersized fluke with a plain hook Ava A-17 in the inlet. Then caught, tagged and released a windowpane flounder well after sunset in the ocean with the Ava jig. Didn’t get a hit while plugging in the surf and inlet at night. Two fishermen were unsuccessfully trying to catch fluke under the lights. Took lots of photos.

  3. Saw whales and party boats on the Manasquan beach cam, then went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this evening on a cold, sunny day with a strong southwest ...more wind and incoming tide on the new moon after I made a new Ava A-17 and 2 teaser rig. It wasn’t crowded for a change. Got the first parking spot again. Only 3 surfers 🏄‍♂️ were in the pocket. Ocean wasn’t rough. A Belmar party boat was at the end of the jetty when I went to my spot where nobody was nearby. Looks like the striped bass migrated south. Started making 5 casts into the ocean, then 5 casts into the inlet. Caught, tagged and released 3 windowpane flounder in the inlet on a plain hook Ava A-17. Then the only other fisherman on the jetty came over to my ocean spot and caught my line. I tried the inlet but the intruder took over my ocean spot so I moved near the beach where I didn’t get a hit. Also didn’t get a hit in the inlet under the lights. Caught 197 fish 🐟 in 58 trips to Manasquan this year.

1 lb. 12 in. Windowpane flounder with a Ava A-17

  4. Went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this evening on a cold, cloudy day with a new moon high tide. No surfers 🏄‍♂️ or spear fishermen and few boats ...more were on the calm ocean for Veteran’s Day. Made five casts with a two teaser and Ava rig in the ocean without a hit. Then hooked a hickory shad in the inlet that jumped, then threw the lure. Caught and released a big red squid 🦑 in the ocean on my brother John’s homemade synthetic black and white buck tail teaser that squirted ink twice after I returned it to the ocean. At night, I caught, tagged and released a 29” 6 lb clear nose skate on a plain hook Ava A17. Later, I caught, tagged and released a 13” windowpane flounder with a teaser in the surf. Didn’t get a hit in the inlet under the lights again. Four green underwater squid 🦑 lights were in Point Pleasant when I left. Caught fish 🎣 on my last 23 trips to Manasquan. May go waterfowling near Atlantic City tomorrow.

1 lb. 12 in. Squid with a Teaser

Never caught a squid but I have used them as squirt guns. Let them fill with water, aim, and squeeze.

Got the first parking spot again. ...more 10 surfers 🏄‍♂️ and many boats 🚤 were on the ocean. A spear fisherman was in the inlet. Minnows were jumping. Caught, tagged and released a 13” fluke with a plain hook Ava A-17. Lost a big skate in the rocks. Caught, tagged and released a 27” striped bass with my brother John’s homemade synthetic black and white buck tail teaser. Caught, tagged and released a 23” striped bass on a yellow A-Salt Bomber. Caught, tagged and released an 11.5” windowpane flounder with my brother John’s homemade synthetic pink and white buck tail teaser in the surf at night. After a big wave receded, I picked up a sand eel and took a photo. Fluke and minnows were in the inlet under the lights again. Didn’t get a hit there. Saw a squid fisherman with an underwater green light in Point Pleasant. Caught fish 🎣 at Manasquan on my last 20 consecutive trips.

  6. Went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this evening on a cool, sunny day with a moderate south wind and outgoing tide. After not getting a hit in the ...more ocean, I caught, tagged and released an out of season and undersized fluke with a plain hook Ava A-17 on my first cast into the inlet. Then I caught, tagged and released a 12” windowpane flounder with the Ava jig in the inlet. A gang of 5 arrived from China and took over my ocean spot. I took a photo of one of the intruders fishing 🎣 next to my bucket. I saw them catch 3 fluke. After they left, I caught, tagged and released 2 more sundials in the ocean. After sunset, shad and herring were chasing minnows in the ocean but I didn’t catch them. At night, after a fisherman fished to my left, then to my right and another fisherman was fishing in the surf near the jetty I decided to quit fishing early because it was too crowded. Saw minnows and fluke under the lights in the inlet but didn’t get a hit again. Another fisherman caught a hickory shad.

  7. Went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this evening on a warm, sunny day with a light east wind and outgoing tide. It was very crowded. A couple with ...more yellow rain bibs were in my spot with a beach chair. I tried the inlet nearby, then caught, tagged and released a 16” fluke with a plain hook Ava A-17 on my second cast of the day. After the intruders left my spot, I caught, tagged and released two windowpane flounder there on the Ava jig. Ten surfers 🏄‍♂️ and two swimmers were nearby. Saw fish 🐟 chasing minnows after sunset. Caught and released a peanut bunker. An intruder from a foreign country arrived at night, then caught my line. After I got untangled, his plug was stuck in the rocks. I risked my life by going into the rocks near the rough water to retrieve his lure with my gaff. Then I moved to the surf but two more fishermen were too close to my left so I tried the inlet over the fence where I didn’t get a hit this year. Minnows and fluke were under the lights but I didn’t get a hit again. Lots of waterfowl migrated south over the ocean. I took lots of photos. The squid fishermen only had one green light in the inlet at night in Point Pleasant. Looks like low tide squidding is not good. I caught fish 🎣 at Manasquan on my last 19 consecutive trips.

  8. Went fishing in the Manasquan, NJ, surf this evening on cold, sunny day with a nor’wester small craft advisory and incoming tide. Got the first parking spot near ...more the jetty again. Only three cars were there. Ocean was still very rough after the nor’easter. The last two surfers left after I arrived. Wore my High ‘N Dry chest waders with the cracked seam. Didn’t get wet. The two patches worked. Caught, tagged and released a 13” and 11” windowpane flounder with my brother John’s homemade synthetic black and white buck tail teaser and Bogan’s Brielle Bait and Tackle plain hook Ava A-17. The second sundial threw the hook in the wash but I managed to grab it before it could swim away. Three young fishermen were in my under the lights inlet spot at night. Got the first parking spot near the jetty. 10 surfers 🏄‍♂️ were in the pocket. A young woman wearing a bikini was in the surf. A big flock of cormorants migrated south. A small drone hovered overhead. A fleet of boats was to the north. I took lots of photos. A guy with a guitar was in my spot. Went to a rock past him. Found a quarter.
