Went fishing 🎣 in 86 degrees Dam Site 21 this evening on a hot 🥵, humid, sunny day with a strong northwest wind after a cold front. My apartment was 85 degrees. ...more One car 🚙 was in the parking lot when I arrived. Three cars were there when I left. A bass fisherman said that he caught and released a largemouth bass with a lure. Len the Honda Pilot guy arrived late in the evening. 3 boats 🛶 were on the lake. An osprey, great egret, great blue heron, belted kingfisher and double crested cormorant were fishing. After I threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, I caught nothing while ultralight jigging. I used up all of my homemade corn meal bait and caught nothing. I probably won’t make any more corn meal bait. Six hooks on two corn rods will be a handful. Lost a redeared slider on corn bait. Then a 29” 12 lb 5 oz common carp pulled my rod into the lake but I managed to land it after a great battle. After a carp jumped nearby, a 26” 8 lb 14 oz common carp pulled my pole into the lake again. Caught 47 carp

Went fishing 🎣 in 84 degrees Dam Site 21 this evening on a hot 🥵, humid, sunny day with no wind. Waited out a thunderstorm ⛈️ in the parking lot when I arrived. ...more A fishing couple got soaked while running to their white van. Two bass fishermen arrived soon after the storm passed. I threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released a bluegill, black crappie and 13.5” black bullhead with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig and corn 🌽 bait. Caught nothing with my homemade corn meal bait again. My catfish was half an inch short to win 🥇 an award. Saw 3 boats 🛶 on the lake. A sandpiper, osprey, great blue herons, swallows and purple martens flew over the water. Turtle 🐢 heads were sticking out of the lake. A few fish 🐠 swirled. Mosquitoes 🦟 were biting. I got free ice cream at Burger King for National Ice Cream Day today.

Threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught nothing with my homemade corn meal bait and while ultralight jigging. Caught and released a redeared slider with corn 🌽 bait. Landed 46 turtles 🐢 this year. Saw a carp jump out of the lake right in front of me then I landed a 28” 10 lb 12 oz common carp with corn 🌽 bait after a great battle. Caught 45 carp this year. The 4 carp that I caught in the lake this year weighed 43 lb 1 oz for a > 10 lb per fish 🐠 average. Not bad.

Caught and released a redeared slider and painted turtle 🐢 with corn 🌽 bait. Landed 37 turtles 🐢 this year. Also caught a 29” 10 lb 14 oz common carp with corn 🌽 bait. Landed 45 carp this year. Got soaked. My Frogg Toggs rain jacket is not waterproof.

Three cars were in the parking lot when I arrived. ...more The resident flock of 23 Canada geese was near my fishing 🎣 spot. Only one kayak was on the lake. Threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released a largemouth bass with a 1/32 ounce twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. Also caught and released a 13” brown bullhead with my homemade corn meal bait. Then I landed a 30” 13 lb 4 oz common carp with corn bait. The fish 🐠 was hooked in the mouth with my jig but broke my line and a second hook in a fin allowed me to beach the fish. Very lucky catch. Landed 44 carp this year. My smart phone predicts 9 consecutive days of rain beginning tomorrow.

I threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released a bluegill with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. Landed a 12.5” brown bullhead with my homemade corn meal bait. On my last cast of the day, I caught a 26” 8 lb 3 oz common carp with corn 🌽 bait. Put up a great fight. I gave it to a cast netter who had a lot of minnow size fish in his cooler. I landed 43 carp this year.
