    Went fishing 🎣 in the 58.1 degree Millstone River on the north shore in Plainsboro, NJ, this evening on a warm, sunny ☀️, calm day. There is still a lot of duckweed ...more on the water. I threw out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught nothing while ultralight jigging. I caught, then released a channel catfish with corn 🌽 bait at night. On my last cast of the day at 6 PM, I landed a 21” 5 lb 9 oz common carp. I saw a nearby muskrat in the river at dusk. Took photos.

    Went fishing 🎣 in 56.8 degrees flooded Dam Site 21 this evening on a cold, sunny day with a 38 mph west wind. Didn’t see any people. A few swallows and lots of ...more Canada geese were there. I threw out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released 2 largemouth bass while ultralight jigging. On my last cast of the day, I caught then released a 14.5”, 1 lb 6 oz , 8.75” girth brown bullhead with corn 🌽 bait. I’m applying for my 94th NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award 🥇.

    Went carping in 60.9 degrees Colonial Lake this evening on a cold, cloudy ☁️ day with a light northerly breeze. Threw out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for ...more chum, then caught a 33” 21 lb 10 oz common carp on my first cast of the day. That’s the biggest carp that I caught since 2017 when I landed a 26 pounder.

    Went to church ⛪️ and prayed for a miracle. It happened. Nobody was in my fishing spot on the Saturday evening after a trout stocking. Unbelievable. Went carping ...more in 58.3 degrees Colonial Lake this evening on a cold 🥶, cloudy ☁️ day with a light northwest wind. Only saw 3 other fishermen near Route 1. Threw out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught a 15” 1 lb 9 oz rainbow trout on my first cast of the day with corn 🌽 bait on my late brother John’s surf fishing outfit. That’s the first trout that I caught this year and the only one that I ever caught in the lake. Only had a few nibbles after that and caught nothing else. The trout fought harder than a carp or catfish of similar size. I’ll be looking for dead trout with corn 🌽 in their stomach now.

    After being discharged from the ER, I went carping in 60 degrees Colonial Lake yesterday evening on a cloudy ☁️, cold 🥶 day with a strong west wind 💨. Threw out ...more Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then saw a big carp jump out of the water. 7 bank fishermen and two kayak fishermen were nearby. 190 rainbow trout were stocked Wednesday. Mallards 🦆 and great blue heron were flying. On my last cast of the day, I caught a 27” 11 lb 4 oz common carp with corn 🌽 bait for my only catch of the day. A fisherman in the next opening down the lake was watching me and took over my spot before I reached my car 🚗. I hope that he isn’t in my spot tomorrow.

    Went fishing 🎣 in the 62.7 degree Millstone River on the north shore in Plainsboro, NJ, this evening on a cold 🥶, sunny day with a strong southwest wind. Threw ...more out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released a pickerel and bluegill while ultralight jigging. A big pickerel bit off my lure after jumping twice. Landed a yellow bullhead catfish double on my last cast of the day with corn 🌽 bait. A large, dark hawk landed in a tree on the other side of the river. Double crested cormorants, Canada geese, mallards 🦆 and great blue heron were flying. Saw 7 fishermen catch nothing. A lot of duckweed is still on the river. Carping may be done for this year.

    Went fishing 🎣 in 60.7 degrees Dam Site 21 this evening on a cool, sunny day with a strong south wind. Too many fishermen were there again but I beat one to my ...more spot. Threw out Walmart canned whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught nothing while ultralight jigging again. Landed 2 9 lb 14 oz and a 1 lb 12 oz common carp, a 13” brown bullhead and a redeared slider with corn 🌽 bait. On my last cast of the day, when I lifted my rod to reel in and leave, the small carp was on the end of my line. Some carp bites are not detectable.     Went fishing 🎣 in 60.9 degrees Dam Site 21 this evening on a warm, sunny ☀️ day with a 30 knot south wind 💨 crosswind. Too many fishermen were there but nobody ...more was in my fishing 🎣 spot. A fisherman who has permission to fish on the Earle Ammunition Pier showed me a photo of the big striped bass that he caught there. I gave him two of my twister tail jigs. A young Latina girl showed me a photo of the snakehead that she caught and released in the lake near the shuttered cinema earlier in the day. I threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught nothing while ultralight jigging. Caught and released a brown bullhead with corn 🌽 bait. On my last cast of the day, I caught a 28” 11 lb 12 oz common carp for my 15th carp catch in that spot since July. Lots of noisy Canada geese were flying late in the day. No cars were in the parking lot when I left. Fishing 🎣 in a 30 knot crosswind was very difficult. I caught carp in three different spots in the last week. The 2025 Central Jersey carp run has begun.

    After catching nothing in Colonial Lake in my last trip there, I decided to go fishing 🎣 in the 62.2 degree Millstone River on the north shore in Plainsboro, NJ, ...more yesterday evening on a warm, sunny day with a moderate northwest wind 💨. I threw out canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught a 24” 8 lb 6 oz common carp, yellow perch, red breasted sunfish, white catfish and channel catfish.

    Repaired two rigs, then went carping in 66 degrees Colonial Lake this evening on a warm, sunny day with a strong northwest wind 💨. Two fishermen were in my spot ...more when I arrived, but they left before I put on my boots. I threw out Walmart canned, whole kernel corn 🌽 for chum, then caught a bluegill, golden shiner and 18” 2 lb 14 oz common carp with corn 🌽 bait. Caught the carp on my last cast of the day at 7 PM at night. Landed 8 carp in my last 7 trips to the same spot.
