Saw whales and party boats on the Manasquan beach cam, then went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this evening on a cold, sunny day with a strong southwest wind and incoming tide on the new moon after I made a new Ava A-17 and 2 teaser rig. It wasn’t crowded for a change. Got the first parking spot again. Only 3 surfers 🏄♂️ were in the pocket. Ocean wasn’t rough. A Belmar party boat was at the end of the jetty when I went to my spot where nobody was nearby. Looks like the striped bass migrated south. Started making 5 casts into the ocean, then 5 casts into the inlet. Caught, tagged and released 3 windowpane flounder in the inlet on a plain hook Ava A-17. Then the only other fisherman on the jetty came over to my ocean spot and caught my line. I tried the inlet but the intruder took over my ocean spot so I moved near the beach where I didn’t get a hit. Also didn’t get a hit in the inlet under the lights. Caught 197 fish 🐟 in 58 trips to Manasquan this year.
