Went fishing 🎣 on the Manasquan Inlet north jetty this evening on a warm, sunny day with a light east wind and outgoing tide. It was very crowded. A couple with yellow rain bibs were in my spot with a beach chair. I tried the inlet nearby, then caught, tagged and released a 16” fluke with a plain hook Ava A-17 on my second cast of the day. After the intruders left my spot, I caught, tagged and released two windowpane flounder there on the Ava jig. Ten surfers 🏄‍♂️ and two swimmers were nearby. Saw fish 🐟 chasing minnows after sunset. Caught and released a peanut bunker. An intruder from a foreign country arrived at night, then caught my line. After I got untangled, his plug was stuck in the rocks. I risked my life by going into the rocks near the rough water to retrieve his lure with my gaff. Then I moved to the surf but two more fishermen were too close to my left so I tried the inlet over the fence where I didn’t get a hit this year. Minnows and fluke were under the lights but I didn’t get a hit again. Lots of waterfowl migrated south over the ocean. I took lots of photos. The squid fishermen only had one green light in the inlet at night in Point Pleasant. Looks like low tide squidding is not good. I caught fish 🎣 at Manasquan on my last 19 consecutive trips.
