1. Went on a two day fishing trip in Matagorda a couple weeks ago w/my co-workers & my manager. Fished in East Bay & limited out on trout with 20ea, also caught ...more 2 black drum plus a nice 26" red on our first day. Had a hard time pinpointing the trout due to no wind or water movement. Needle nose gar were a nuisance & kept stealing our bait all day. Finally found the trout in 3-4FOW over a small reef

  2. 4 Flounder, 4 Redfish, 5 Speckled Trout, 1 Sheepshead & 1 Striped Bass. Most were caught during high tide. Sheepshead & ladyfish were feeding on shrimp while ...more the reds trout & stripers chased mullet. Free-lining both shrimp & mullet & casting in the current letting them drift. The only time we got hits was when the bait sunk closer to the bottom so We pinched a split shot to help keep the bait down

Changed to Gulp when the tide rolled in & landed 2 small flounder & these keepers. Casting in the current & lettin it drift the flounder would hit it on the fall & run with it. Pearl white & pink were the colors that got the most hits

    Gulf Flounder

Cool, don't think I can make it out tomorrow night. don't get off til 5:00 tomorrow & have to fight rush hour from 290 & beltway all the way over ...more there. Im down to fish Saturday night tho @Reel_Smooth

    3. gr82bstr8 0
@Reel_Smooth you staying in town this weekend?
    4. gr82bstr8 0
Thanks! @GoatGirl if you ever make your way to the Gulf/East Coast, you should definitely try flounder. I've heard they taste very similar to halibut.
    5. GoatGirl 0
They look like fun! Nice catches!
    6. Reel_Smooth 0
Ok sounds good. But i more then likely will show up late on Saturday. Unless you want to go Friday night

@Reel_Smooth I'm gonna try to make it. My dad's bday is on the 16th so I'm not sure if we're celebrating with the fam on Saturday or not. I'm ...more down to hit up that spot this weekend if you stay in town
    8. gr82bstr8 0
@Reel_Smooth For sure, I've gotta start burning vacation days because I have about 18 left for the year. Give me at least a few days notice and we'll make ...more it happen
    9. gr82bstr8 0
@Matthew_L thanks man! It was a great day!
    10. gr82bstr8 0
@GoatGirl these three hit the lure on the fall and ran with it so I set the hook pretty quickly. Flounder will definitely teach you patience though haha
    11. Reel_Smooth 0
You going to the meet up? If i dont go to Austin this weekend i'm hitting the water.
    12. Reel_Smooth 0
Next time we'll set something up.
    13. gr82bstr8 0
@GoatGirl they sure are & taste amazing too! Most of the time you gotta be patient with them because they like to mouth the bait/lure for a bit. I usually count ...more 10 seconds before setting the hook....
    14. Reel_Smooth 0
They are @GoatGirl when you hit the 20+ range they feel completely different. They know how to use their body at that point and start to take good drag also.
    15. gr82bstr8 0
@Reel_Smooth Lol I thought about that but I have a training meeting that I have to attend tomorrow for some new processes at workπŸ˜•πŸ˜’

  4. Details: Inshore Slam (trout/flounder/redfish)

First time using chatter weights & I was impressed with how well they worked. We caught most of our trout & a couple flounder using them. After the cast, ...more we let the croaker sit for 20-30 seconds, twitched the rod quickly shaking the chatter weight & BAM! Flounder were caught in between pilings that were part of an old dock & most trout were caught in big sandy pockets surrounded by heavy grass

  5. Details: Red (redfish) Drum

Caught this awesome pup red at my tournament this weekend. The Reds in the area were scarce and we only caught a couple of them all day. Complete opposite of last ...more years tournament. We were drifting in 2'-3' of clear greenish water & casting in grass pockets between large rocks when this little guy hit. Measured 16 1/4". Released back safely for someone else to CPR

    1. gr82bstr8 0
@Esgar272 dude the largest trout I caught was a little over 18". Believe me, we were looking but kept finding schools of small trout. A 28" trout is a ...more really nice catch though so good job!
    2. gr82bstr8 0
@Reel_Smooth yeah man, the pic doesn't do it justice. The blue was really bold and so was the spot on its tail. Prettiest red I've ever caught
    3. gr82bstr8 0
@Reel_Smooth it was pretty much a bust as far as Reds go, just landed a couple. We limited out on trout though and caught a couple flounder. Still had a great time ...more & caught & released like 25 trout
    4. gr82bstr8 0
@ReelGame thanks man. I've really liked all of the Redtail rods I've tried. Actually, the guide I booked is the owner of Redtail Rods. Really cool guy & ...more makes a retail line of rods as well as custom.

May not look like it but just spent the morning cleaning & organizing my gear. Filled two small & one medium sized Rubbermaid containers with plastics, hooks ...more & extra gear. Crazy to see how much I've accumulated over the past year. Yeah, it's an obsession....but a good one at that.

Slow day at Rollover Pass. Two flounder caught but this was the only keeper coming in at 17". Fishing finally picked up between 1pm-3pm during high tide plus ...more winds shifted & pushed some of the blue/green water in from the surf. @ReelGame I haven't looked into new drag washers yet but it'd definitely be worth replacing after a while
    2. gr82bstr8 0
@ReelGame The Chronarch looks sick. I want one but don't want to shell out the money for one right now. It's good to put ceramic bearings in reels that are ...more used for saltwater since they won't rust
