1. Details: Largemouth Bass with a JSJ floating gill on 50# braid and a Dobyns 795MLSB with an Abu Garcia Gen2 Revo Winch

Here's one about 4.5 from earlier this morning on my floating JSJ gill. Got a lot of rain last night, so I fished mostly in under a foot of water. With a warm ...more rain and muddy water, I often find fish right up on the bank because they can conceal themselves while still getting enough light to be a sight predator. A patch of grass close to the bank is almost guaranteed to have a nice fish on it.

  2. Details: Largemouth Bass with a This fish came on an LFT Baby Ring Fry on an 1/8 oz Owner shaky-head. I fished it on a Dobyns Champion 682 casting rod with an Abu Garcia ...more Gen2 Revo Premier spooled with 10# Seaguar InvisX fluorocarbon

Here's one of my 31 pound limit on Fork, 04/10/15. Pitch jigs, Texas-rigs, shaky-heads, and other stuff at key targets on transition points and creek channels ...more in about 6 FOW. You can also go up to the bank and sight fish, but I didn't see anything over 5 there. I REALLY wish I hadn't left my swimbaits in the car. I would've done work with my Deps and Hudds...

    1. Calvin Fease 0
      @williamd1999 that's actual where I caught it.
    2. William William 0
That's awesome. I haven't ever thrown a 10XD. I'm gonna have to try it this summer on ray bob or fork.
    3. Calvin Fease 0
@williamd1999 that's awesome. Ring fries rule. I'm honestly not sure what my PB is. If I had to guess, I'd say it was a fish I caught two summers ago ...more on a 10XD.
    4. William William 0
Nice fish btw. I caught my PB on an LFT ring fry wacky rigged
    5. Calvin Fease 0
@williamd1999 I might actually stop saying what lake. Haha this pic just made it a little too obvious.
    6. William William 0
I gotcha. I understand keeping spots on the down low for sure
    7. Calvin Fease 0
@williamd1999 Lately, I've been blurring my photos if you can tell where I am. Just keeps my "special spots" from becoming community holes.
    8. Calvin Fease 0
@Jimmy_Lynch this was my biggest. My dad got one a few ounces bigger.
    9. William William 0
Hey I've been to that spot before! 😂
    10. Jimmy_Lynch 0
This your biggest from the day?

  3. Details: Largemouth Bass with a I caught it on a JSJ floating gill (no, it's not for sale) on 20# mono, spooled on a Gen2 Revo STX in 7.1:1 mounted on a Dobyns Champion ...more 795MLSB.

Loving this new toy. Swims even when I dead stick it (provided there's a ripple on the surface), or on the slowest crawl (about 2" per second, or around ...more a foot every 6 seconds). Very realistic paint job (I got mine used, so it'll need to be redone). The hooks I put on it (1/0 ST41s) were a bit big, so they tended to get caught in the joints. In short, a functional work of art that catches fish.

    1. BassHunter1 0
      What swim bait is that?
    2. SeanHuck43 0
Thats awesome man!! Keep up the good work bub
    3. Calvin Fease 0
Yeah. @AllWaterLife @MusicCityBass I'm just kinda spoiled. Haha Most places around me are stocked with Florida-strain, and I only target stuff over 4. Haha
    4. MusicCityBass 0
@AllWaterLife So is everything truely bigger in Texas?
    5. AllWaterLife 0
Sucks to be not in Texas @MusicCityBass
    6. MusicCityBass 0
@AllWaterLife lmao mine is 5 but the bass up here don't get as big as y'alls do
    7. AllWaterLife 0
We shall not say a draught because 6 is my PB and that's just straight depressing lol
    8. Calvin Fease 0
@AllWaterLife @King_Fisher & @MusicCityBass, I've been in, shall we say, a draught? Haven't caught anything over 6 since the start of duck season (coincidence, ...more maybe? 😉)
    9. MusicCityBass 0
This app has been lacking big bass since you left. Good to see you posting again!
    10. King_Fisher 0
      What @AllWaterLife said!

  4. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Mattlures Ultimate Gill (5" female gill), 20# Seaguar fluoro on a Gen2 Revo STX and a Dobyns Champion 764

7 pounder beating the banks. Got a feeling in my gut that I needed to fish a transition area, so I went down to a creek channel swing and pulled this guy out of ...more it. I initially thought this was a big female pulling up to spawn, but then I saw his girlfriend... Only saw her on their bed (I didn't catch this fish on a bed, I just remembered a marking on its side) twice, but she was about 9 or 10.

    1. BassHunter1 0
Nice fish. Is the mattlures mostly weed less?
    2. Calvin Fease 0
@lewisiscool try Huddlestons, BBZs, Ospreys, and some Rago softbaits.
    3. Calvin Fease 0
      Haha @bassinboy01 @yich4 @Jimmy_Lynch I feel like there's a great quote I can use right now...
    4. Jimmy_Lynch 0
      About time
    5. David Willson 0
      Thanks a ton @big_bass
    6. big_bass 0
@lewsiscool you should get a huddleston 6" or 8" which are only like $20-$30, or something like a bbz which are $35, and then there are a lot of other ...more types out there for a relatively cheap price.
    7. big_bass 0
      Welcome back @CalvinFease
    8. David Willson 0
@CalvinFease I want to get more into swimbait fishing but I don't want to spend 70$ on something I could loose. What are your top 3 swimbaits? Also nice fish
    9. Richie Pusateri 0
Thought you were dead! Nice fish

I love how photogenic this bait is! Beautiful bait in the mouth of a 3 pounder! I posted this pic because I've started fishing this topwater bait on fluorocarbon. ...more What it'll do for you is if you let the line sink after the cast, you'll get the same alluring action, but a few inches under the surface! You'll still see the fish roll on top, but since it's slightly under, hookups are much more solid.

    1. Austin Buley 0
I guess I could expand that to Allen/Plano/ anywhere
    2. Austin Buley 0
Hey man do you know of some good Allen ponds that produce in the winter? I know yall usually slay them out there and my Relationship with the McKinney ponds is not ...more good right now lol
    3. slabmaster 0
      Nice that's a nice bait
    4. robz713 0
I got to get one of those
    5. Austin Buley 0
Alright I'll throw it at my golfcourse if I can get away from school... There's some good grass there
    6. Calvin Fease 0
@TennesseeTroutboy yes! It is a topwater after all! It's just phenominal when you just let it float on the surface and dead stick it.
    7. Calvin Fease 0
@abuley34 I throw it along shallow grass edges mainly. Biggest key is to fish it slow. Generally about one revolution of the handle for every 3-4 seconds.
    8. Austin Buley 0
I have one of these but I have like zero confidence in it... Where do you throw it like over grass lines or what
    9. TennesseeTroutboy 0
Thanks @big_bass, does it float? @CalvinFease
    10. Calvin Fease 0
Actually @TennesseeTroutboy it works better on top because then you know you're working it slow enough. One of my friends fishes it subsurface and never catches ...more a thing.
    11. big_bass 0
@TennesseeTroutboy it is made by black dog baits.
    12. TennesseeTroutboy 0
Well I can understand how it works better topwater since a injured baitfish will go up top, what company makes it
    13. Calvin Fease 0
Really, it's a topwater whose bill gives it a more natural presentation at what we call "Calvin Speed" aka an absolute crawwwllll.
    14. eastonsutley 0
      It's a hybrid @TennesseeTroutboy
    15. TennesseeTroutboy 0
      So a swim bait?
    16. Calvin Fease 0
@TennesseeTroutboy Don't tell anyone, but it works about 5x better as a topwater!
    17. TennesseeTroutboy 0
Is it a swim bait or crankbait?
    18. Donald Myers 0
      That's a different looking bait.
    19. whitebass_81 0
      One of my favorites
    20. scoopdaloop 0

Sorry, Skouters. Been more than a while since I've posted on here. Anyways, I was duck scouting (no pun intended) last weekend and came upon an interesting grass ...more line. Anyone ever thrown a bait out like 10 feet while in a long idling area? Well I caught a 5.1 pounder doing that. Haha the moral? A nice fish may hit when you least expect it.

@TheREELdeal it's awesome. Much more stretch and a lot smoother than other monos (I like lots of stretch in mono).
    6. Calvin Fease 0
@jstruve Teal season starts on Saturday and Mallard season is in November I believe, so no. Haha
    7. Andrew Alonzo 0

  7. Details: Largemouth Bass with a I caught it on a Talon Custom Lures Lake-Fork Flutter-Spoon in the 1-1/4oz size in the Lake Fork Manic color. I used it on a Dobyns 764C with ...more a Gen1 Revo STX and 20# fluorocarbon.

I went out to Fork on 07/12/14 during a Skeeter BassChamps tournament (which I did not enter). At 7:00 AM, I hooked up to this nice 5-6# schoolie. The schools were ...more suspended in the thermocline, so I decided the best way to target them was with a Talon Custom Lures Flutter-Spoon and it payed off! It's funny watching tournament anglers struggle for a bite while I pull them out hand-over-fist. Haha

    1. Calvin Fease 0
Wish I had more time to spend on Lake Fork. Unfortunately, because of family schedules, time on the boat is limited to a few hours once every two weeks or so, in ...more which case, gotta make the most of it!
  8. Details: Northern Pike with a I caught it on my custom 3/8 oz vibrator jig and a Missile Baits Shockwave as a trailer. I fished it on a 7'1" MH and a 6.4:1 Gen2 ...more Revo Premier spooled with 15# fluorocarbon and a 9" 30# wire leader.

I know this looks like a nice Northern in the pic, but it was only 27.5" long! Sadly, this was the biggest one I caught all week long. It had absolutely choked ...more my custom vibrator jig and I had no pliers, so I had to remove it by hand and came out with my hand all bloodied up! A few minutes before, I had lost a Muskie around 40" because a jet-skier blitzed by my boat at exactly the wrong time.

    1. whitebass_81 0
Still a good pike, caught a 28" two nights ago near dusk on a crank only took one pic because his mouth was torn up though @CalvinFease
  9. Details: Largemouth Bass with a My own custom-made vibrating jig (Chatterbait) with a Keitech 3.8" Fat Impact as a trailer. I fished it on a 7'1" MH and a 6.4:1 ...more Gen2 Revo Premier spooled with 15# fluorocarbon and a 30# wire leader.

While still on vacation, I night fished at Manson and found all the bass to be stacked UP in the 2-8FOW range. The air temp was 37 degrees fahrenheit, but they ...more were still actively chasing baitfish. They were not interested in topwater, plastics, nor anything, save my custom chatterbaits. I am currently in the process of getting websites up-and-running, but I will be selling my plastics and jigs.

    1. MusicCityBass 0
I have been having incredible success with them lately. All keeper fish that destroyed the turtle
    2. Calvin Fease 0
@MusicCityBass I have, but imo, they're just another creature bait.
    3. whitebass_81 0
Hate those jet skiers btw, same with water skiers @CalvinFease
    4. whitebass_81 0
Decided to post pike pic tomorrow for maximum likes hehehe
    5. MusicCityBass 0
@CalvinFease have you ever tried a bombshell turtle?
    6. Calvin Fease 0
@whitebass_81 don't feel bad! I went the whole week and only got two hits! Neither of which were landed! Of course, the first one wasn't my fault... Darn ...more jet-skier decided to do 50mph 10 ft from me...
    7. whitebass_81 0
      Lol. I meant Muskie not pike..hahahaha @MusicCityBass
    8. MusicCityBass 0
@whitebass_81 that made no sense at all. You caught 5 pike, but no pike?
    9. whitebass_81 0
Good catch, good info. We've caught 5 pike so far, but no pike. Biggest being 35" and I'm about to post a pic. Now I just want a big smallmouth on ultra ...more light! @CalvinFease
    10. Calvin Fease 0
One last note: I fished until 11:30 PM and from sunset to then, caught about 40 bass between 12" and 18". All we're EXTREMELY fat, showing how healthy ...more the northern Wisconsin fishery is.

  10. Details: Smallmouth Bass with a I caught it on a drop-shotted 4.5" finesse worm on 6# fluorocarbon spooled on a Pflueger Patriarch 9535 mounted on a Dobyns Champion ...more 702SF.

Fished the Wisconsin River (@bassinboy01 think you can add it?), and pulled out an awesome 5 pound Smallie! It's ridiculous how hard these fish fight. If it ...more was in Texas, I would've thought it to be around 7 or 8 pounds judging by the fight. It was sitting in about 6FOW right off a large boulder under a dam. With access to the current, these fish can make some serious runs, so be prepared.

@ATLBassin don't wait them out. Smallies are so aggressive that of they're there, they'll feed instantly. Try drop-shots, shaky-heads, tubes, flick-shakes, ...more and anything else on a spinning rod.
    5. ATLBassin 0
I'm makin a trip up to sturgeon bay in a couple weeks to do some smallmouth fishin, any insight on what's workin up in Wisconsin at this time of the year? ...more Would be greatly appreciated
    6. Peyton Dalatri 0
My bad I havent updated the app yet
    7. Calvin Fease 0
@Peytond52 if you check the description, you'll see that it came on a 4.5" finesse worm I make. I had it rigged on a drop-shot with 6# fluorocarbon and ...more a Dobyns Champion 702S.
    8. Peyton Dalatri 0
What did u catch it on?
    9. Calvin Fease 0
@jstruve agreed. They're incredible sport fish. @bassinboy01 thanks! @wyldechyle77 they really are amazing fish. The "tick-tick" hit is really uncharacteristic ...more of them considering their raw power.
    10. Chuck LaBruna 0
Nice job! Smallmouth bass are pound for pound the hardest fighting fish in freshwater. MUCH more of a battle than a largemouth, I've even had some fight harder ...more than Northern Pike
    11. Jacob Breaux 0
Not sure why the Wisconsin River wasn't showing up for ya. We've had it in the system for a while. I changed the blert though.
    12. Jacob Breaux 0
Great blert and fish. Congrats on that beast too.
    13. jstruve 0
@CalvinFease they fight hard at 1 lb I love catching smallies more then almost any fish based on that alone! Nice work and nice fish! Caught a 3 lb one while back ...more thought I had hooked a Muskie.

      Awesome smallie!
