    Bull Shark with a $$$$

    1. HoldenAdams 0
      Thanks @mredus8
    2. mredus8 0
      @holdenAdams
    3. mredus8 0
Anything that's has a strong backbone. Finore tycoon is a good strong rod that won't break the bank
    4. HoldenAdams 0
      Any rod suggestions ? @mredus8
    5. HoldenAdams 0
Ok thanks for the info! @mredus8
    6. mredus8 0
A world record the high end reels are the way to go. A lot of drag and a lot of line@holdenAdams
    7. mredus8 0
A 50w or a 80w AVET or okuma makira. Yes they cost a lot but there not gonna fail when it comes down to it. You need good line and a strong rod. I've seen 9/0s ...more bring some nice sharks but if you after
    8. HoldenAdams 0
      @mredus8
    9. HoldenAdams 0
Oh well what do you suggest
    10. mredus8 0
You will also have problems with the drag overheating
    11. HoldenAdams 0
Haha In not going for a shark that can out spool a 16/0 @mredus8
    12. mredus8 0
      @holdenAdams
    13. mredus8 0
A 9/0 won't handle a huge shark from the beach. I know guys that have been spooled by sharks on a 14/0 and a 16/0.
    14. HoldenAdams 0
Huge haha @mredus8 I'm gonna get the penn 9/0 and still looking for a rod any suggestions ?
    15. mredus8 0
So what size sharks are you wanting to catch? @holdenAdams the size you want to catch will determine the size of reel you need to buy
    16. HoldenAdams 0
      Ya I'm looking into the 9/0 @bassinboy01
    17. Jacob Breaux 0
      @holdenAdams
    18. Jacob Breaux 0
Ok man I can't help ya with shark reels, but I know the guys on here that shark fish like those 9/0's. Seems like a great reel that won't break the bank
    19. HoldenAdams 0
Ya I just had 2 eye surgery's for a detached reitna so I've had a lot of time to research lol @bassinboy01
    20. Jacob Breaux 0
Have you seen the website tx-sharkfishing? Awesome info and tips
    21. Jacob Breaux 0
@holdenAdams Ah ok I gotcha. The reason I haven't gotten into shark fishing is because it is quite a large investment of time and money. Lots of gear to get ...more and homework to do. Just a thought
    22. HoldenAdams 0
Ya well I have a good bull red setup @bassinboy01
    23. Jacob Breaux 0
      @holdenAdams
    24. jacob jacob 0
      @matt 7*
    25. Jacob Breaux 0
So you're targeting sharks then over bullreds right?
    26. HoldenAdams 0
      Ok
    27. jacob jacob 0
      @holdenAdams 7134440577 text me
    28. jacob jacob 0
@matt u want to see about deleting his 2 other accounts?
    29. HoldenAdams 0
      I'm looking at the squall 50w or 60w @lovemore @bassinboy01
    30. HoldenAdams 0
      My price range
    31. HoldenAdams 0
Sorry for so many profiles I just keep for getting my password but this one I do know it wish I could delete the others idk how though @SwampMafia @bassinboy01 and ...more ya @lovemore but the avet isn't in
    32. mike2014 0
      Avet reels all the way
    33. jacob jacob 0
The mlx will also catch u monster shark if u catch them close enough to shore
    34. jacob jacob 0
If ur targeting reds get an avet MLX @bassinboy01 knows what hes talkin about with that. Avet makes a solid reel
    35. jacob jacob 0
The squall is a kick ass reel but if ur gonna spend that money and ur targeting shark get a 12/0
    36. jacob jacob 0
@holdenAdams if ur using the squall for shark and doing it right u have to take the bait out 500 yards so ur gonna need to use braid backing so u have more around ...more 1000 yards
    37. jacob jacob 0
      @holdenAdams message me
    38. Swamp Mafia 0
      What's it now 6 - 8 profiles for you?
    39. Jacob Breaux 0
I don't know of any reels out there you can efficiently cast and yak baits out with. Unfortunately with fishing, you get what you pay for usually...
    40. Jacob Breaux 0
Best thing you can do is get a raptor series MXL or LX from Avet and don't look back, or a Release LG like @MulletHead has. Then you can still cast and have ...more more drag than you'll ever need
    41. Jacob Breaux 0
Honestly if you want something that can handle both bullreds and good sized sharks, a senator 4/0 is your best bet without spending the money on an avet.
    42. Jacob Breaux 0
What happened to your old account?
    43. HoldenAdams 0
And ya @SwampMafia I was looking at a penn squall 50w holds 500yds of 40lbs
    44. HoldenAdams 0
Everyone this is my new account that I'm commenting with right now plz follow this one instead @SwampMafia @Texas_Slam @matt @bassinboy01 @lovemore @dgrabe217
    45. Swamp Mafia 0
I don't think the 4/0 has the line Capacity for running baits out far. 6/0 would be the smallest I would use. I have 2- 9/0's with penn mariner standup rods ...more for sharks.
    46. holden_adams 0
      Thanks @SwampMafia
    47. holden_adams 0
Ok @SwampMafia and ya off the beach @lovemore I was looking at the penn 4/0,6/0 and penn squalls and I wish I could get avet there too much for the one I want how ...more much was your avet.
    48. jacob jacob 0
      Message me @holden_adams
    49. jacob jacob 0
If u go avet and ur targeting big sharks u want to go 500 yards out in which case u probably want a 50w or 80w
    50. jacob jacob 0
Off the beach? For a longer fun fight go penn. If u wanna just get the fish in go avet. Also depends on how much u want to spend
    51. Swamp Mafia 0
Would be good for reds and sharks. A big shark may spool a red fish rod and you may not know you have a red on a shark rod.
    52. Swamp Mafia 0
Med size conventional reel or a 6k-8k spinner for reds. 6/0-9/0-12/0 for big sharks. I have pulled 40+" bull reds to the beach with out knowing they were on ...more with a shark rod. I don't think one set up
    53. holden_adams 0
      😂 @MulletHead
    54. Gabe Mitchell 0
I'd never take tackle advice from a guy who spends more on gas to get to the surf than his equipment is worth. @matt
    55. holden_adams 0
      Thanks @matt
    56. Matt Dobson 0
You need something that holds a lot of line 500yds 30lb minimum, has a clicker, and has a STURDY drag. After that just make sure your friends 'fix' them ...more for you. @MulletHead
    57. holden_adams 0
Thanks guys ! Sorry for all the post and questions just wanted a couple more opinions before I buy one. @bassinboy01 @matt @Texas_Slam @dgrabe217
    58. Matt Dobson 0
Guess I'm going to have to try an avet. Have used penns which work great, but eventually lost various parts. Probably my fault for not keeping them up. @dgrabe217
    59. Texas_Slam 0
What @bassinboy01 said. You cannot find a reel like an avet. They're sealed so sand won't go in them and are oiled up like a bikini model. Just a great reel.
    60. Jacob Breaux 0
Between my three types of reels, if I had to change them all to one, it'd be my Avet MXL MC. Dream of a reel. Already scheming my next setup, and you can bet ...more the reel will be an MXL MC
    61. dgrabe217 0
I believe many people like Avet 30w. These people might have more to add @bassinboy01 @matt @MulletHead @teamhardlife @SwampMafia @mredus8
    62. Texas_Slam 0
      Avets baby.

  2. Which should I try to get , pen defiance 30 or Abu Garcia 7000i /c3 can't decide which would be better for surf and pier ?

    Blacktip Shark with a $$

    1. holden_adams 0
      Ok thanks haha @MulletHead
    2. Gabe Mitchell 0
Yeah, you'll be able to cast the about further and be able to land 4 and 5 foot sharks from the surf. Hook into a 6 or 7 footer and you're probably toast
    3. holden_adams 0
Alright thanks ! Ya I can't decide but I'm leaning toward the Abu 7000i @speckcatcher
    4. Conley Foeh 0
The 7000 is an awesome reel, I've caught a 6 foot blacktip on a reel with weaker drag and smaller line cap @holden_adams but this was in a boat. From the shore ...more is a whole different game
    5. holden_adams 0
Also @MulletHead when you go bull red fishing , do you ever hook up on a shark and can your Abu 7000i handle it ,I saw your youtube video and you said it can pull ...more in anything exept a big shark ?
    6. holden_adams 0
      Ok thanks man @MulletHead
    7. Gabe Mitchell 0
Both are decent starter combos. I'd pick the once with the most line capacity and the most drag

  3. Got my new kayak !! Stealth angler 11 by emotion kayaks ! Can't wait to hit the water !

Red (redfish) Drum with a $$

  4. Rod and reel ideas ?

    Blacktip Shark

    1. holden_adams 0
      Oh ok thanks man @bullred_king
    2. Juan aguilar 0
@bassinboy01 the only difference between the Abu 7000i and the c3 is just the color and the c3 has 3 more ball bearings
    3. Juan aguilar 0
an Abu Garcia 7000i is a good one to dats what I use
    4. mike2014 0
      @bassinboy01
    5. mike2014 0
Heck yeah brotha. We gonna have to see when we can all get out there. I have a buddy coming with us he has one custom surf rod that looks pretty nice he is putting ...more his mxl on too a full avet line up
    6. Jacob Breaux 0
@mike2014 How cool is it gonna be when they're set out side by side
    7. mike2014 0
It's gonna look sick dude I like your colors @bassinboy01
    8. Jacob Breaux 0
@mike2014 Can't wait to see that setup! I'll post mine up too once it's ready
    9. mike2014 0
Dang will do brotha getting my new avet in today and getting rod from Andy so gonna post pics of that bad boy and test it out tomorrow.@bassinboy01
    10. Jacob Breaux 0
@mike2014 Dang I'm gonna be out of town all weekend. Y'all go catch em! Post some blerts for us
    11. mike2014 0
Hey @bassinboy01 and @holden_adams we going to seawolf park Friday night if y'all wanna drop by. Andy gonna be there too
    12. bencjones3 0
      A pair
    13. holden_adams 0
      Alright man thanks @bassinboy01
    14. Jacob Breaux 0
No problem buddy! Lemme know when you get that new setup and we'll go hit the salt
    15. holden_adams 0
Oh ok well thanks man @bassinboy01
    16. Jacob Breaux 0
I'm not sure what the differences are between those two reels, if any
    17. holden_adams 0
Ok I couldn't choose between the two also is the 7000i c3 bigger than 7000i @bassinboy01
    18. Jacob Breaux 0
The 7000iC3 is a great reel. Several scouters use them and love them as well
    19. Jacob Breaux 0
I have a 7000i C3 and have caught bull reds up to 44" and drum up to 45" and have not even had a moment where u was scared the reel couldn't handle ...more that class of fish. Not sure about sharks though
    20. holden_adams 0
Oh ok thanks do u the Abu Garcia 7000i can catch big bulls and shakes or to weak ? @bassinboy01
    21. Jacob Breaux 0
Casting reels are baitcasters: low profile like the Revo and round reels like the 6500 C3. Conventional are larger more for offshore fishing like the Penn senators. ...more Usually pretty bulky
    22. kenzie 0
And for the sharks any kind of freshly cut bait would work. Like squid is the whats the best
    23. kenzie 0
For reds shiners work the best
    24. Austin Buley 0
      @MulletHead
    25. holden_adams 0
Sweet tag me if u get any thing and I'm not sure yet maybe not that soon @Texas_Slam
    26. Texas_Slam 0
Nice I'm heading to 61st on fri.and Saturday. When are you?
    27. holden_adams 0
Ok thanks and Jimmy's pier on 61st street or the beaches surf fishing and also I was down at ftu the other day but I'll look into that next time I go @Texas_Slam
    28. Texas_Slam 0
But if you need a guide in your real AKA level wind reels you might want to go with a penn squall
    29. Texas_Slam 0
Not have a guide but it's very easy to learn how to spool line evenly with your thumb.
    30. Texas_Slam 0
Also if you live in Houston, go down to fishing tackle unlimited and get you a FTU stock surf rod it's ready to fish. They're real nice too. And for starters, ...more just get a shimano torium. This reel does
    31. Texas_Slam 0
What pier you fishing??? Take a look at my blert that shows you how to make my bullred/shark rigs It should help you. Feel free to ask any questions.
    32. holden_adams 0
Also wanted to ask what's the difference between casting reels and conventional reels ?? @bassinboy01 @mike2014
    33. holden_adams 0
      Thanks guys @bassinboy01 @mike2014 @cole_agouridis
    34. cole_agouridis 0
I have a penn international 30w with 50lbs mono on a penn mariner rod but a penn senator is a good option too
    35. mike2014 0
      Yeah what he said lol
    36. Jacob Breaux 0
A good starter setup is a Penn 209 or 309 on an 8' or longer rod that can handle 3-6oz of weight plus bait. 20-30lb mono and you're good to go

    3. AllWaterLife 0
He deleted the other one @Texas_Slam. Probably not aware that you can edit a blert and so he just deleted it and posted it again and changed the species.

Black Drum with a shrimp poping cork

    1. holden_adams 0
      Oh ok thanks man @AllWaterLife
    2. AllWaterLife 0
No problem bro. They look pretty much the same. Just a small difference that you can see when you put the two fish side by side.
    3. holden_adams 0
Ok sorry guys well now Iknow it looks like a sheepshead too me I never knew black drum start like that @AllWaterLife and @Texas_Slam
    4. Texas_Slam 0
That's true. @RedfishBoy I seen so many people who tried to lip the fish I catch in the saltwater and they always get a bad surprise!
    5. RedfishBoy 0
Just giving tips. I wouldn't hold any saltwater fish by the mouth. Unless you have gloves.
    6. Texas_Slam 0
That's a black drum. You can tell by its mouth. If it has human like teeth then it's a sheepshead.
    7. AllWaterLife 0
      That's not a sheepshead. It's a juvenile black drum.

  8. Details: Blue Catfish with a good tasting stuff

Gonna get this great deal and try to catch some nice fish in the bayou

    1. j_reyes 0
it's slower due to the shortness
    2. crookcody19 0
Yeah that's why you should get the 12 cause it will make the trip easier on you and also most 12 foot kayaks hold a lot more gear if you ever need the extra ...more room. I mean if you want this kayak get it.
    3. holden_adams 0
      @crookcody16
    4. holden_adams 0
Couple miles and tackle box and 2-3 rods
    5. crookcody19 0
Okay how far are you paddling in it? And how much stuff do you bring along
    6. holden_adams 0
I don't need to stand up though @crookcody16
    7. crookcody19 0
If your going to use the kayak a lot I would recommend spending a little more money for one you can stand up in.
    8. holden_adams 0
      Ok thanks @crookcody16
    9. crookcody19 0
Look on the internet for different kayaks. You might have to order one.
    10. holden_adams 0
      @crookcody16
    11. holden_adams 0
Where can I get the exact one but 12' cause this place only has 10'
    12. crookcody19 0
How much are you going to use the kayak?
    13. crookcody19 0
      Unstable
    14. crookcody19 0
10 feet is just really compact and unsayable when standing. Also longer kayaks cut threw the water easier.
    15. holden_adams 0
      Why @crookcody16
    16. crookcody19 0
Great deal but I'd try to go 12 feet
    17. holden_adams 0
      How's it slower @j_reyes
    18. j_reyes 0
the 12ft one is faster and about same width this one is slower and what bayou??
    19. holden_adams 0
      What's the difference @j_reyes
    20. j_reyes 0
get the 12 its much better I have 2!!
