    Went ultralight jigging in 48 degree Carnegie Lake this afternoon on a warm, cloudy day with no wind and fog. Caught and released 5 white perch, 2 black crappies ...more and a bluegill with garlic night crawlers on 4 lb test line. Saw 8 other fishermen catch and release crappies. Canada geese, mallards 🦆, double crested cormorants, great egrets, great blue heron and gulls were nearby. Minnows were swimming on the surface of the lake.

    Went ultralight jigging in 41 degree Carnegie Lake in the cold rain this afternoon. Fortunately for me that it wasn’t windy. Two other fishermen were there for a ...more short period. I caught and released 3 white perch with garlic night crawlers on 4 lb test line. Saw an adult bald eagle 🦅, great blue heron, double crested cormorants, mallards 🦆, gulls and a banded Canada goose. Took pics. Only one fish swirled. Quit early. Fishing 🎣 in the cold rain is not fun.

    Went ultralight jigging for an hour in 45 degree Carnegie Lake this afternoon in the cold rain during a west wind small craft advisory a day before the full moon. ...more One car was in the parking lot when I arrived and none were there when I left. Air temperature was 46 degrees. Only one other fisherman was there for a short time in the cold rain. I didn’t see him catch anything. Went 4 for 4 on my first four casts. Caught and released 9 white perch and a black crappie with Walmart garlic night crawlers on 4 lb test line. My 1/8 oz white leadhead jig in a double overhand knotted loop on the end of my line worked. The line didn’t twist or tangle. My hands got very cold from wearing rubber gloves 🧤 to keep the worm 🪱 dirt off of my fingers and fingernails. I quit early. Cold weather fishing 🎣 is not fun. I may try surf fishing tomorrow. Shot one duck Saturday.

    Went ultralight jigging in 48 degree Carnegie Lake this afternoon on a cold, cloudy day with a north wind small craft advisory. Air temperature was 45 degrees. Got ...more very cold, then quit early. Caught and released 5 white perch and a yellow bullhead with Walmart garlic nightcrawlers. Only 4 other fishermen were out in the cold wind. A bald eagle 🦅 landed in a nearby tree. Took pictures. A two person kayak was on the lake. My line kept getting tangled from the jig spinning and causing twisting. I retied my rig with the jig in a loop.

    Went ultralight jigging in 48 degree Carnegie Lake this afternoon on a cool, sunny Thanksgiving Day with a small craft advisory northwest wind. It wasn’t crowded. ...more A guy from Virginia who usually catches nothing was fishing 🎣 without a license and caught and released 2 black crappies and a largemouth bass with a small jig on 4 lb test line. I netted the bass for him. That makes me an accessory to his illegal fishing. I caught and released 7 white perch, 2 brown bullheads to 14.5”, a channel catfish and a 9” rock bass with Walmart garlic night crawlers on 4 lb test line. I’m applying for my 17th NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award 🥇 this year for the 14.5” catfish that I landed on my last cast of the day. It was fortunate for me that my niece texted me a message that Thanksgiving Dinner would be an hour late so I fished for an hour later than expected. 10 day weather forecast predicts below average temperatures with freezing conditions for the next 10 days. There will probably be ice in my freshwater fishing spots in the mornings. I may try saltwater fishing 🎣 or waterfowling.

    Went ultralight jigging in 50 degree Carnegie Lake this evening on a cool, sunny day with a northwest wind small craft advisory. Caught and released a 13” brown ...more bullhead on my first cast with Walmart garlic night crawlers on 4 lb test line. Also caught and released a 12” brown bullhead, 2 black crappies and 3 white perch. Landed my 2,900th fish 🎣 for this year and 2,700th NJ freshwater fish 🐟.

    Went carping in the 54 degree Millstone River on the south shore in West Windsor, NJ, this evening on a cold, sunny day with a northwest wind small craft advisory. ...more Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught nothing while ultralight jigging. Twin 4 lb common carp hit both of my carp rods simultaneously. The two lines tangled but I landed both fish 🎣. That was the only action of the day. Nick the college student said that he caught 74 striped bass in the surf from Sandy Hook to Monmouth Beach recently.

Threw out a can ...more of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught and released 9” and 8” white perch while ultralight jigging. Landed 2 common carp to 3 lbs on consecutive casts with Happy Harvest whole kernel corn 🌽 on 12 lb test line at night. Saw Canada geese, mallards, double crested cormorants, great blue heron, gulls and an adult bald eagle. Took pics.

Threw out a ...more can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught 3 common carp to 5 lbs with Happy Harvest whole kernel corn on 12 lb test line. Gave the fish 🐟 to another fisherman.
