1. (Testing updated app) My kayak rigging is DONE! Thanks to Supernova Fishing Lights for the bow and cabin LEDs. Still learning how to use the Humminbird Helix 5 DI ...more GPS, but the head and transducer Ram mounts work great. Appreciate ACK for carrying the gear I needed and the clean trolley install (and for the KATS winnings that paid for a lot of stuff).

Hey @Bo_Wiltshire . This was taken 5/3, and I did get a few from the dam early morning. Nothing huge. I went out yesterday, but launched from AHS and went toward ...more Shoal Creek. Did you sell your yak?

  2. NEW PERSONAL BEST AND NEARLY A DD! But unfortunately not a bass. **sad trombone** Archored and cast soft jerkbait at mouth of creek. Worked fluke like a hard jerkbait ...more with rod tip down and jerk-jerk-pause cadence. The goo put up a good fight. Felt like a slow freight train pulling the whole time. I thought I had hooked a giant turtle again. Cloudy with 10-15mph winds and lots of wake from boats.

    1. I'm brand new to lady bird, this lake has some great fishery for a city lake! I look forward to seeing some of you anglers out there, hopefully if the person ...more running KATS will host Sunday tourney's!!!
    2. And is this app seriously 5 bucks a month just to post a picture?
    3. Man I hope that there is one on a Sunday.I work my heaviest day Saturday I'll never fish a Saturday as long as I work, nice having Monday off for fishing the ...more bird!
    4. michang5 0
I doubt it @River_Brothers_Outdoors , but I don't know for sure. Bass boat guys seem to have tournaments throughout the week. I've not seen the same for ...more kayaker anglers.
    5. This sounds awesome. I've never done a tournament but I'd love to try one! are there ever any tourneys on Sunday or Monday?
    6. james454 0
See ya'll there. Please read rules and regulations. Fishkats.com
    7. michang5 0
And my wife just told me TWC shows 20%: http://www.twcnews.com/tx/austin/weather/7-day-forecast.html

@nobama : I'm almost done watching old Major League Fishing episodes in Florida. They literally fished in the middle of Hurricane Sandy. I'm not worried ...more about the rain. Wind will be the tougher foe.
    9. nobama 0
80% chance of rain Saturday 🎣☔👎
    10. michang5 0
Fishkats.com has rules, CPR instructions, typical itinerary and other info. The second link I posted in original blert has specific LBL event instructions.
    11. michang5 0
Usually the awards, raffle and giveaways happen 30-45 minutes after Pro check-in.
    12. michang5 0
@whitebass_81 : Mandatory Capt Meeting at 6:00. First cast TBD, likely 7:00. Social off the water at 2:00, check-in at 3:00 at C-Hunts bar. Pro is 3:00 and 4:00, ...more respectively.
    13. whitebass_81 0
Then send them the pictures after you're done
    14. whitebass_81 0
It says 6:00 to 5:00 so you have to be there at 5:00 or can you fish a half day?
    15. hudsonkuczaj 0
      Ok great, thank you
    16. michang5 0
@hudsonkuczaj : They have an all-day rental rate. If you look around, you may find a half-off coupon from LivingSocial or Groupon or other. I bought a punchcard ...more last year that cost about $15/rental.
    17. hudsonkuczaj 0
Ok is it pretty expensive though?
    18. michang5 0
@hudsonkuczaj : You can rent them at Texas Rowing Center (across the street from the tourney check-in). It's what I did last year. Works out a lot easier in ...more some ways actually.
    19. hudsonkuczaj 0
Can you rent a kayak or do you need to own one
    20. Jonathan Smith 0
Good deal. @nathantrafford and I might join you guys. Neither of us have done a tournament yet....sounds like fun though.
    21. michang5 0
@Kev1107 and I are fishing Social. Not sure which one @matfeo and @jmoneytrain will be fishing. Last year's event was a lot of fun.
    22. michang5 0
There are two divisions, @jas_atx : Pro and Social. Anyone can fish either division (no membership fees). Pro costs a bit more and awards cash. Social awards ACK ...more gift certificates.
    23. michang5 0

  9. First two trips with new-to-me Mariner Propel 12.5. Boated five on LBL Saturday; most on DS cast in front of brush. Inaugural catch shown (2# on Boga). Went out ...more with @kev Sunday to a different BOW and caught eight. Grabbed this 5.25# tossing wacky jig inches from the bank, where there is a steep drop-off. Was great to cast and bring it in standing up. Both waters were stained. Sunny and hot.

    6. michang5 0
@MagicYaker : I've been monitoring the threads of Austin Bass Fishing. Novas seem to only be a problem on Lake Austin -- a body of water I don't plan to ...more hit anytime soon. Too many drunk speedboats.
    7. Mike Ammenwerth 0
@michang5 no. You still want to cast out just like normal. The lights do help provide a great silhouette of your bait for the fish to see, even at a distance.
    8. michang5 0
Thanks for info, @Vinnyman42 ! I've seen them on LBL and thought they looked sweet. Am curious about the baitfish attraction. Does it mean that I'm fishing ...more very close or under my yak for best results?

@MagicYaker I've heard they've been giving boaters a hard time. Only the boats who run lights 360 degs. around and those whose light don't match maritime ...more rules of front left-red, front right- green
    12. @michang5 I heard po po are cracking down on yakers with nova lights/ non approved coast guard lights. Have you had any problems with them in Austin area?
    13. Mike Ammenwerth 0
Also, they are a great safety feature. There's no way you'll get hit by a boat at night unless it was intentional. Did I mention that they attract baitfish ...more also. And what do the big fish eat? Hmmm...
    14. Mike Ammenwerth 0
The lights are worthless unless you fish at night😜. They allow you to see at night without using a headlamp. It doesn't compromise your night Visio either ...more because there's not direct light on your 👀
    15. atxflyfishing 0
