1. Details: Largemouth Bass with a weighless senko worm

Got some pond fishing in yesterday.

    1. 9G3B 0
Yea man they are fun, hit me up when your free well tear them up
    2. mark Santellana 0
@9G3B I can barely catch bass and you want me to try trout?? Haha I will have to get out there then
    3. 9G3B 0
Haha man get out to Tom bass the trout are biting they fight pound for pound harder than a bass, they have hard runs and gnarly head shakes
    4. mark Santellana 0
@9G3B haha I know it I get discouraged in the winter months cause I hardly catch anything and go into hibernation
    5. 9G3B 0
      Dude you disappeared! Nice chunk
    6. mark Santellana 0
@bassinboy01hard for me to slow everything down and just let the worm work itself. used to running n gunning lol still looking for a big one out of there and it's ...more rarely fished so odds are still good
    7. Jacob Breaux 0
That's good to hear! I've been not doing so hot last couple times out, so maybe I'll have to try a senko next time. Seems to be working for you!
    8. mark Santellana 0
@bassinboy01 took me a while to find em after so many empty tries during the cool months but think I finally have em down @ that location
    9. Jacob Breaux 0
Those senkos are killer for pond bass!

Need tips on how to punch mats

    1. Evan Geiger 0
You pitch it but its more of a flip because you want your bait to enter the mat a straight up and down angle. Just flip it on the mat and the 1.5 oz weight should ...more punch through the lillies or hydrilla
    2. mark Santellana 0
@catchfishesgettackle I meaning on the cast itself and when it first hits the water. I attempted to try it and as soon as it hit I backlashed like crazy and ended ...more my day quickly lol
    3. Evan Geiger 0
Where you stop the bait or you will get a bite mid drop. Just don't let it hit the ground too fast, keep your sensitivity on very low and you should be fine.
    4. Evan Geiger 0
Same as ever. Just drop in, you want to drop it in straight up and down, and pull it out straight up and down, set the hook at the same angle. On the baits way down ...more it will hit the bottom, which is
    5. mark Santellana 0
@catchfishesgettackle may be a dumb question but how do you punch em without backlashes..?
    6. Evan Geiger 0
Reactions innovations sweet beavers are the best punching baits. A tungsten weight with 65 lb braid is the way to go in my book.
    7. Calvin Fease 0
@ChanceHuiet @Bandy I don't have much grass where I fish, and the mats aren't very thick. Ive personally never had a problem with PowerPro 30#. Its so slippery, ...more it cuts through Hydrilla. Pretty cool.
    8. Robert Bandy 0
I'm not offended lol I just know that MY hook set has snapped 30lb braid with a ex hev rod. Would hate for him to lose a fish over line.
    9. Calvin Fease 0
@Bandy I agree with you on 30 snapping off on hard casts. When I flip, I'll go down to 30, when I cast, I'll go up to 65.
    10. Calvin Fease 0
@Bandy I'm giving people advice that I've found to work. My style of fishing may be different from yours. I hope I haven't offended you. I'm just ...more trying to help.

      @CalvinFease
    13. Robert Bandy 0
Just because a few guides put you on fish and you have an Abu Garcia doesn't make you a pro. Have the things you've said it most blerts I've read are ...more poor advice.
    14. Robert Bandy 0
65* is 15lb diameter small and stout
    15. Robert Bandy 0
I haven't broke any off ever with 65lb braid. 30lb braid can't take shock from a hard cast and a heavy rod I've already been there and done that.@CalvinFease ...more 66lb braid is the same as
    16. Calvin Fease 0
I'd really use 30 if you have it. @Bandy have you ever broken off with 30? I sure haven't. I've only had two break offs this year. On 8# and 12#. A 13 ...more lber snapped 8# fluoro, and I frayed 12# mono.
    17. Robert Bandy 0
      No problem! Good luck bro
    18. mark Santellana 0
Thanks for all the info and will put it to use tomorrow. @Bandy @CalvinFease @bassinboy01
    19. Robert Bandy 0
Don't use 30lb braid that weak. It's the diameter of 6 or 8lb mono or some bs. Push the tip of the hook on the nose of your bait all the way down to where ...more it bends. Then rig as normal.
    20. Calvin Fease 0
Use a punch skirt and rig the hook farther back on the bait so the knot isn't exposed.
    21. Jacob Breaux 0
@Bandy got it. I add a punch skirt too. Bigger profile for bigger fish👍 straight shank heavy wire hook with a snell knot
    22. mark Santellana 0
Just having trouble placing the hook correctly on a flipping hook so that the weight sits flush with the bait. Instead I'm getting that gap where the eye of ...more the hook is.
    23. Calvin Fease 0
I use the thinner 30 lb line because it will slice through the weeds, instead of letting it clump up around your catch!
    24. Calvin Fease 0
Pitch that bad boy with 30 lb Power-Pro at any sort of differences in the mat . (i.e. points, heavy spots, different grass) If you have crawfish in there, add a ...more matching punch skirt to that rig.
    25. Calvin Fease 0
Those grip-pins also increase the durability of expensive plastics, saving you money!
    26. Calvin Fease 0
I use a pegged 1/2 tungsten with your favorite beaver-style bait (i.e. Sweet Beaver, Yomama) and a 4/0 Mustad Grip-Pin. The Grip-pin keeps the beaver from sliding ...more down the hook, increasing hookups.
    27. Robert Bandy 0
Pegged 3/8oz tungsten with a beaver bait on 65lb braid hev action rod and high speed reel.

Last night was able to catch this girl. Catch has been really tough on the golf coarse these days. Assume they are in deep and just not biting until late in the ...more evening like this one.

Doesn't interfere with any of the golfers
    2. mark Santellana 0
@xgr82bstr8x I like the popper and its the biggest one i could find so that it had some weight to it so that I could cast it. I fish the pearland courses and just ...more fish the ones off to the side and
    3. gr82bstr8 0
@markS0509 how do you like that hula popper? And do you go to clear creek golf course? Do you have to ask the clubhouse if you can fish their ponds?
