You pitch it but its more of a flip because you want your bait to enter the mat a straight up and down angle. Just flip it on the mat and the 1.5 oz weight should ...more punch through the lillies or hydrilla

@catchfishesgettackle I meaning on the cast itself and when it first hits the water. I attempted to try it and as soon as it hit I backlashed like crazy and ended ...more my day quickly lol

Where you stop the bait or you will get a bite mid drop. Just don't let it hit the ground too fast, keep your sensitivity on very low and you should be fine.

Same as ever. Just drop in, you want to drop it in straight up and down, and pull it out straight up and down, set the hook at the same angle. On the baits way down ...more it will hit the bottom, which is

@catchfishesgettackle may be a dumb question but how do you punch em without backlashes..?

Reactions innovations sweet beavers are the best punching baits. A tungsten weight with 65 lb braid is the way to go in my book.

@ChanceHuiet @Bandy I don't have much grass where I fish, and the mats aren't very thick. Ive personally never had a problem with PowerPro 30#. Its so slippery, ...more it cuts through Hydrilla. Pretty cool.

I'm not offended lol I just know that MY hook set has snapped 30lb braid with a ex hev rod. Would hate for him to lose a fish over line.

@Bandy I agree with you on 30 snapping off on hard casts. When I flip, I'll go down to 30, when I cast, I'll go up to 65.

@Bandy I'm giving people advice that I've found to work. My style of fishing may be different from yours. I hope I haven't offended you. I'm just ...more trying to help.

Just because a few guides put you on fish and you have an Abu Garcia doesn't make you a pro. Have the things you've said it most blerts I've read are ...more poor advice.

65* is 15lb diameter small and stout

I haven't broke any off ever with 65lb braid. 30lb braid can't take shock from a hard cast and a heavy rod I've already been there and done that.@CalvinFease ...more 66lb braid is the same as

I'd really use 30 if you have it. @Bandy have you ever broken off with 30? I sure haven't. I've only had two break offs this year. On 8# and 12#. A 13 ...more lber snapped 8# fluoro, and I frayed 12# mono.

      No problem! Good luck bro

Thanks for all the info and will put it to use tomorrow. @Bandy @CalvinFease @bassinboy01

Don't use 30lb braid that weak. It's the diameter of 6 or 8lb mono or some bs. Push the tip of the hook on the nose of your bait all the way down to where ...more it bends. Then rig as normal.
    20. Calvin Fease 0
Use a punch skirt and rig the hook farther back on the bait so the knot isn't exposed.
    21. Jacob Breaux 0
@Bandy got it. I add a punch skirt too. Bigger profile for bigger fish👍 straight shank heavy wire hook with a snell knot

Just having trouble placing the hook correctly on a flipping hook so that the weight sits flush with the bait. Instead I'm getting that gap where the eye of ...more the hook is.

I use the thinner 30 lb line because it will slice through the weeds, instead of letting it clump up around your catch!
    24. Calvin Fease 0
Pitch that bad boy with 30 lb Power-Pro at any sort of differences in the mat . (i.e. points, heavy spots, different grass) If you have crawfish in there, add a ...more matching punch skirt to that rig.

Those grip-pins also increase the durability of expensive plastics, saving you money!
    26. Calvin Fease 0
I use a pegged 1/2 tungsten with your favorite beaver-style bait (i.e. Sweet Beaver, Yomama) and a 4/0 Mustad Grip-Pin. The Grip-pin keeps the beaver from sliding ...more down the hook, increasing hookups.
    27. Robert Bandy 0
Pegged 3/8oz tungsten with a beaver bait on 65lb braid hev action rod and high speed reel.
