    Good times

  2. Caught it while night fishing on some shrimp. Does anyone know what species this is

    1. jordan lezcano 0
Ya it's probably a young sea bass if caught on shrimp inshore
    2. jordan lezcano 0
There also all over the east we catch mogan sea bass all the time and a dude near caught a giant one inshore but usually big ones are offshore @amassie thx @pondguy1
    3. Looks like a goby.

You can catch a good amount of Black Sea bass in Florida and it had no teeth tho @amassie I agree with you @inlet_fisher99

Black Sea bass are west coast fish I believe. This was caught in Florida @inlet_fisher99 but I'm not sure

@txfisherman713 it looks like a grey snapper(mangrove) but it's at a strange angle and upside down.

Almost looks like a snapper but I feel like that's wrong because it doesn't look like any species of snapper I recognize. Maybe a mangrove

  3. Details: Black Grouper with a live pinfish freelined on a 5/0 hook. using 50lb fluro leader and 50lb braid main line. Stradic 8000 fi on a 6'6" shimano trevala

Water temp around 65° and crystal clear water. Depth 8 feet. When the inshore gags get a little finicky I like to get the livest pinfish possible. Their erratic ...more swimming seems to fire them up.

      Good point @QandQ_fishing_team
    2. corey cavanagh 0
Most people find them by fishing for reds and snook during the winter with whitebait. Instead of just throwing big pinfish at random docks and not catching anything ...more for long periods of time. @fishwizard52
    3. fishwizard52 0
Ok thanks a lot @QandQ_fishing_team ! I'll try it one of these days!

Docks and find structure so you have to fish alot of docks to find the ones holding structure and fish.
    6. corey cavanagh 0
Alot of trial and error. One dock might hold them and the docks beside them nothing. There has to be some type of structure to hold them there. Our water here isn't ...more clear enough to just look around
    7. fishwizard52 0
What do you look for when targeting gags that way? I've heard of fishing docks for them.

    2. AllWaterLife 0
Gotcha. I was wondering why you weren't lipping it, but that makes sense now.
    3. corey cavanagh 0
The pic was weird. I guess the lighting on the fish made it look just like a bass. Everyone I've showed it to says nice bass but it really was a small gag grouper. ...more @ReelGame @AllWaterLife
    4. corey cavanagh 0
You're the first person that got it right and said grouper. @Jace_Oulliber

2 nice gags caught by free lining big live pinfish right off the dock in about 8 feet of water. Breezy and cool. Water temp 70°. Had to use the biggest baits ...more possible to weed out the shorts.

    1. corey cavanagh 0
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Probably cuz they were on ice for a little. @capnlogan
