Watching those guys yak those baits out was really taxing. Shoulders are really sore from pointing which way to go.. The sacrifices we make to catch big fish are ...more crazy in most peoples eyes, but if it means standing on the rod platform, watching them paddle through the surf, and pointing directions all day long... It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

    1. FishHooker 0
You have some really nice fish in your pics. I'm gawking at those doormats.
    2. FishHooker 0
      And over then.

I still love inshore. In fact I haven't been as much as we used to go so I'm not gettin on the big boys right now like we used too. I can't wait for ...more fall to come. I know where to get consistent slots

PIGS REALLY DO FLY! This monster picked it up about 15' from me on the fall and hauled bASS with it. Slammed the hook set and he went 15' plus 7' of ...more rod length up over my head into the grass behind me. 7.3:1 retrieve and 22lb drag made for an easy fight as he was trying to fly away. Turns out their fins are more effective in water than air.

    1. Matt Dobson 0
      Thx, I'm slow sometimes

    9. whitebass_81 0
Guadalupe's typically have a smaller mouth, they have reddish eyes and a much more distinct and darker color pattern.
    10. Gunner Newberry 0
Come give it a try when I'm back home! @Reel_Smooth

Ok all you bass slayers.. Saw the river near the rig I'm on and went n picked up a new combo to target bass while out here. 13 fishing concept c 7.3:1 on a 7' ...more M castaway skeleton. 10lb mono 40lb fluoro leader (typical salt setup for me). What do I throw and how do I present it? Moderate current visibility sucks (1'+/-). Lots of hangups. Also a pond in town I'll run to. Died blue vis sucks.

    1. Gunner Newberry 0
Fyi if anyone comes back to this blert for updates - work got crazy last cpl days. Should have an opportunity today when I wake up (working nights).
    2. Gunner Newberry 0
@TopWaterGOD thanks man I will have to see what this 1/2 wal mart has!
    3. Evan Geiger 0
Chatterbaits work really well in dirty water. Put a speed worm as a trailer and the vibration will be crazy. Call a fish from a mile away

@ReelGame working with an old school walmart with half a fishing isle but I'll try to get all of the above! @ChanceHuiet allsports in Victoria has (or had) one ...more more 7:1 in stock. Spooled it free too.
    7. ReelGame Saucedo 0
Chunk a Junebug or Redbug Zoom Lizard 1/16oz bullet weight with a 4/0 wide gap hook i fished water like that before slowly bounce it over cover around the snags
    8. Chris Skinner 0
Hopefully it produces for you! I've done well with that setup on my section of the Guad
    9. Gunner Newberry 0
@Cowboy713 no leader, weightless tx rigged senko, tight line, feel for bites. Got it!
    10. Gunner Newberry 0
@bassinboy01 thanks for the heads up! Waters milky but I'll be reading your blerts shortly
    11. Gunner Newberry 0
None of the local stores had a C in 7.3:1 found this one in Victoria and drove 1.5hr there and 1.5hr back to work before shift to get it.
    12. Gunner Newberry 0
See how smooth the drag is (or isn't). That's a big factor for me when targeting reds n trout. Like a smooth consistent drag. Light line won't test the ...more max drag but not why I got it.
    13. Gunner Newberry 0
Is sweet and diff than what I'm used to. Slung a small popper up wind today once I had it dialed in (which was super easy) and could backlash it. As of now I'm ...more really happy with it. Can't wait to
    14. Gunner Newberry 0
@ChanceHuiet the C is unreal. I heard good reports and have been disappointed before by reels that were supposed to be "better than xxxx." This one is ...more awesome. Super smooth casts a long ways brake sys
    15. Jacob Breaux 0
@Cowboy713 got it πŸ‘ good stuff Chris
    16. Chris Skinner 0
Line tight, feel it bounce the bottom and pay attention to any pauses in the drift
    17. Chris Skinner 0
Haha well for starters ditch that leader, you won't need it for bass, Id start with a weightless TX rigged green pumpkin senko, cast 1/4 up stream and let it ...more drift down keeping your rod tip low and
    18. Jacob Breaux 0
You're on track with the senko idea. I'll see if I have an old blert about them. Watermelon seed if the water is clear (which I imagine it is)
    19. Gunner Newberry 0
By the way the reel is butter smooth. Beats my bone stock chronarchs easily. I'll do a side x side when I get home with the core mg and some ceramic'ed curados ...more and chronarchs.
    20. Gunner Newberry 0
      Tag all them guys that do this regularly @bassinboy01 @makzymos @ReelGame @MulletHead @ChanceHuiet @BigChance56 I know it's not a fly setup but you're the ...more Guad expert @Cowboy713 !!!

Caught the only Big Ugly of the day on one of two bait rods. Fun fight but lethargic fish. Weird growth on all old battle wounds (kinda looked like barnacles). With ...more @fishingmatt @katenewbs and buddy Mark. Mid 60's air temp, mid 50's water temp, foggy/overcast, high tide but heading out slowly, fishing 20'+ in ICW. 10. Gunner Newberry 0
@speckcatcher what he said ^. I got 4 have given one away and always keep one on one of my rods. Check out YouTube for the action on it. I upgraded split rings (3 ...more per lure) and both hooks on each lure
    11. Conley Foeh 0
Is the hunchback a topwater? I saw one at cables but didn't feel like spending 10 bucks on one. Is it worth it?
    12. Gunner Newberry 0
@Redsrbetter plus the county is constantly raking our beaches, so the old stuff doesn't go back out with high tides.
    13. Gunner Newberry 0
@Redsrbetter not horrible. If the wind is due south and currents cooperate a little generally the N jetty will catch a lot of the weed and keep a good chunk of the ...more beach clean
