1. Details: White Crappie

Fishing the northern part of the lake holding near the factory fence with a brush pile right below in around 25-30fow. Landed 65 or so fish with 15-20 keepers including ...more the biggest for that afternoon with my 13 incher⬆️! Took a while to find the right depth and color but after that we started hitting em pretty solid.

  2. Details: Black Crappie

Fishing a brush pile on Lake Murvaul and caught this crappie with a very interesting genetic marking. The fish's defect ran from its top lip to the beginning ...more of its dorsal fin. I thought it was really unique how linear the mark stretched. Hadn't seen a fish with anything like it before. Would've gone in the livewell but luckily for him I missed the toss haha!

@TennesseeTroutboy Texas has a lot of them. Our ponds have them too due to stocking crappie with the gene that causes the black nose.
    2. TennesseeTroutboy 0
I didn't know they were that far west

Thanks for the info! Our friend that fishes that particular lake said he's seen a couple like it in there before @TennesseeTroutboy

That is actually a mutation of black crappie called black nose crappie. It's so common around here it might as well be a separate species

  3. Details: Largemouth Bass

Got this nice chunk on Squaw Creek Jan 3rd! We were trolling down a long bank casting to shore in about 10fow. Worked the worm slow across the many submerged trees ...more and got her half way back to the boat. Unfortunately this was my only fish of the four total caught between the three of us haha.

    1. Collin Collin 0
Haha yep. 29lbs won the tournament the day before and only 22 won it the next day @TopWaterGOD

  4. Details: Largemouth Bass

Caught this absolute beauty of a largemouth on Martin Creek Dec. 30th! Spent three days hunting and fishing in East Texas with little success but this hog made it ...more all worth it. We came up to a transition point between reeds and a long rocky bank that drops down to 13fow and started casting as far up as possible. Worked the worm as slow as possible and she bit mid way back to the boat! 3.5-4lbs

I'm back baby and for the next solid month I'll be fishing hard! First fishing trip in months to my local creek and got some real lunkers haha. Casting parallel ...more to the banks with a fast retrieve and got 8 of these hatchlings varying a few inches in length. Catching bass isn't as common as catching green sunfish so it was an interesting day. Many more pics to come!

  6. Throwback from the last week of August. Took my good friend fishing and hooked him up on this beautiful 44in Longnose after several missed fish and lost lures. While ...more he fished for carp and cats with corn I ran the traps parallel and vertically along and across the banks. Incredible fun landing these fish well worth a few hours of casting and snags! CPR.

New PB Largemouth Bass! It feels so great to finally have a new biggest bass. Caught on the Brazos near Whitney on an all day kayak trip. Saw a great looking lay ...more down near the bank in 4fow, casted directly into it, got 2 pops in, and she inhaled it! Somewhere in the 5lb range. Also landed five 2-3lbers with 26 fish total all on the popper and Brush Hogs. Wish I could fish the river every day.

  8. Details: Hybrid Striped Bass

Kayaking last week on the Brazos and landed my first ever Striper! Its definitely not the biggest out there but still a really cool catch none the less. Found a ...more school no more than a mile down and caught 8 fish within half an hour. The topwater bite was great all day but especially so in the morning from 6:30-12:00. 24th freshwater fish landed. More pics to come.

  9. I got this unexpected surprise while fishing for gar and white bass a few mornings ago. My rattle trap was coming into the rocks 20ft from shore when this buffalo ...more came up from the bottom and slammed it! This may be my personal best by a pound or two and what a way to catch it. Never seen a buffalo actually attack a hard body lure! Fun fight and a first for me!

    Smallmouth Buffalo

  10. New personal best and new species all in one. Got my first flathead this morning on a rattle trap along with several +15lb gar, white bass, and a potential new PB ...more smallmouth buffalo! Casted toward some shallow boulders near a concrete wall and hooked into him half way back with a fast retrieve. He stuck under the water long enough to make me think it was a foul hooked gar. Great fight and morning!

Id like to catch some too, especially something that size...
    2. Collin Collin 0
Thanks @Surf_Monkey ! Flatheads are very different and unique from other catfish species. Really cool and great fighting fish, would love to catch some more.
