Fishing a brush pile on Lake Murvaul and caught this crappie with a very interesting genetic marking. The fish's defect ran from its top lip to the beginning of its dorsal fin. I thought it was really unique how linear the mark stretched. Hadn't seen a fish with anything like it before. Would've gone in the livewell but luckily for him I missed the toss haha!

      @TennesseeTroutboy Texas has a lot of them. Our ponds have them too due to stocking crappie with the gene that causes the black nose.

      That is actually a mutation of black crappie called black nose crappie. It's so common around here it might as well be a separate species
