1. Details: Blue Tilapia with a Diamond Razor bow

Saw her come up to the surface about 10 yards out and shot her (pretty good shot not to brag...probably quite a bit of luck) and brought her in. Probably around ...more 7 Lbs.

@kp_fisher I think it's a Cajun Lil' Stinger IV 4- prong fish point, I didn't think it paid that much, but I don't like the non fixed tips.
    2. kp_fisher 0
Great shot! What kind of tip is that?

  2. Does anyone else have a bow and live in Katy, Tx? I always imagine how affective it would be to have 2/3 people in the same area, one on a bridge and the other 2 ...more on opposite banks. If anyone is interested reply and let's go shoot some fish.

    1. Aggie32 0
@MulletHead no one has bothered me yet. I don't see why it would be illegal, plus I'm taking an "invasive" species.
    2. Gabe Mitchell 0
Yeah, I know it's legal, but I think there is some language about where it can be done. Didn't know if the Katy bayous qualified.
    3. Aggie32 0
@MulletHead Pg. 33 of 2014-2015 Outdoor Annual "...bows...May be used to take NONGAME fish only....May not be released..." So if anyone tells you no then ...more they're ignorant of the law.
    4. Aggie32 0
Technically it's fishing, no ones ever stopped me, and I've seen and heard of others doing it. And shooting those fish is legal, and it might be illegal ...more to NOT kill the tilapia and carp???
    5. Gabe Mitchell 0
      Legal?
    6. Aggie32 0
@MulletHead nearly all of the bayous in Katy are great for bowfishing. They've got gar (I don't shoot them cause I like to catch them on rod and reel), carp, ...more and tilapia.
    7. Aggie32 0
I'm sure academy or bass pro would have a decent $75 bow or spend $150 and get a decent bow fully set up.
    8. Aggie32 0
@BearC02 i have a diamond razor (originally bought for deer), I've got it rigged up for probably a total of $300 bow included. That's for sure overkill but ...more it's what I had.
    9. Gabe Mitchell 0
Where in Katy can you bow fish?
    10. BearC02 0
How much is a good bow fishing setup?

  3. Details: Blue Tilapia

I was standing on the bridge with my bow and I "snuck" over to the edge and slowly raised my bow and shot him/her while it was on a nest. Shot a carp too ...more in the same spot but it came off while I was landing it.

    1. katy_bowpro 0
I'm heading to this spot in a couple hours.
    2. Aggie32 0
I'm not 100% certain of that but I do remember reading it. It's because they're invasive and destroy the natural environment.
    3. Aggie32 0
I believe in the outdoor annual it states that if you are to catch tilapia and certain types of carp, you're supposed to kill them and throw them on the bank. ...more I tend to toss them off into the woods.
    4. nicholas_hull 0
@Fresh_Life tilapia are an invasive species and some carp are also. I'm not sure why we kill the natives, most people just consider them a trash fish.
    5. YakwithZack 0
What's wrong with tilapia ? And carp ?
    6. Brandon alt 0
      Tilapia....... Kill kill kill
    7. kp_fisher 0
I've been looking into getting a set up like that for talapia and carp looks like a lot of fun
    8. kp_fisher 0
There are a couple creeks in cypress where those big talapia are all over more than welcome to kill all of them
    9. Swamp Mafia 0
      Well done!
    10. robz713 0
Good shot gig those invasive $@&@$

  4. Details: Cichlid with a These are the 2 best flies, in my opinion, for Rio Grandes.

These are the flies I use 85% of the time and catch everything from gar, bass, rio grandes, and all types of perch.

    1. Aggie32 0
There's a George Bush park in katy TX, sorry I just noticed how that could be misleading.
    2. Aggie32 0
@mark137 no it mainly fish just south off fry rd. in George bush park.
    3. mark137 0
Are these ponds in college station?

  5. Details: Cichlid with a Fly

I caught this I think sometime in the summer with my fly rod. I'm posting it now just for references.

    1. austin1234 0
      Ok. Thanks @aggie32
    2. Aggie32 0
      @austin1234
    3. Aggie32 0
I'll post a picture of the fly, I'm FAR from an expert but I've always seemed to catch 90% of my fish on the fly with that fly in particular. I had to ...more go buy a few more because they get so chewed up.
    4. austin1234 0
What fly did you tie. And what size hook. I tie my own flys and find it hard to find a good sized hook
    5. davidgarciaa 0
I have a beautiful one on my page check out.
    6. biglock 0
      Yes
    7. Aggie32 0
@biglock like a spinning reel? That sounds like a hell of a lot of fun.
    8. biglock 0
Have you ever tried using an open face reel on your fly rod?? It will change your life. 4-6 lb test
    9. Andrew Alonzo 0
      nice rio
    10. TennesseeTroutboy 0
I have that same fly rod and reel
    11. DaPikeKilla 0

  6. Details: Spotted Gar with a The fly I used is visible in the right side of the gar'a snout near it's eye.

Saw him laying over some rocks near the drainage or the water treatment facility, and I honestly didn't think he would take it cuz it was so small but he did ...more and put up a nice fight.

    1. austin1234 0
      Nice! @aggie32
    2. Aggie32 0
@austin1234 I'll see if I can make it out tomorrow around lunch, I'll post the pictures of the flies tomorrow, I usually catch them aprox. 1500 ft east of ...more fry, I park by the construction entrance.
    3. austin1234 0
Ok. Thank you. Do you know the name of the fly ? Where did you catch that thing
    4. Aggie32 0
It's the same fly I used for my rio grandes, they seem to tear it up every time I can find them. I believe the fly I used for the gar was a smaller version though. ...more @austin1234
    5. austin1234 0
      And what size hook?
    6. austin1234 0
      What fly did you tie?
    7. Aggie32 0
I was extremely surprised he went for it because it was so small, but it was a great fight
    8. thedevman1 0
Good job. I caught the skunk tonight
    9. Andrew Alonzo 0
Nice man, I've always wanted to catch a gar on the fly

  7. Details: Largemouth Bass with a 2" white H2O Xpress crank bait

I was walking along the bank spot fishing for bass and this bull slowly swam out of the grass and circled around towards the water treatment facility drainage. I ...more threw the crank in front of her and twitched it until she inhaled it. She is the biggest bass I've ever caught and I estimated her to be around 5 lbs and 18".

    1. bassgetter 0
      nice catch bro
    2. Brandon alt 0
Dang man nice fish! Super dark
    3. Aggie32 0
It was around 630 so it wasn't too hot and I didn't even really bother with the bait balls because I was having more success fishing the edge of the grass.
    4. thedevman1 0
Time of day? I was in that part the other day but didn't get but a few bites it was hot as you know what! Got a bad sunburn though and 3 fish down by the main ...more bridge with cranks in the bait balls.
    5. Aggie32 0
I've got a few thumbing it, I usually don't take "selfies" with the fish.
    6. james_hodges0714 0
Did you get a pic with it
    7. suttonshelmire 0
That's a dark colored bass great catch!
