1. Details: Ling Cod with a Outback vs. Revolution 13

Hey guys. I am wondering which of these kayaks I should get. Hobie outback or the hobie revolution 13. I am 6'1 140 lbs. I really want to fish out in Santa Cruz ...more on the kelp beds for lingcod and stuff but I also want to be able to fish on reservoirs for trout and stripers. Any tips on either of them? Thanks in advance.

      Outback
    2. jurssica 0
I would go with outback. For me it was the pro angler or outback, but got the pro angler. A sales rep said the outback are super stable and a overall and great yak

@King_Fisher I think I'm gonna go Outback. It's my first kayak so hopefully it'll be good.
    4. King_Fisher 0

  4. Details: California Halibut with a Fishing Kayaks Suggestions and Models; Beginner-Medium Experience.

I just wanted to see any suggestions on a good fishing kayak for ocean and lake fishing. I am completely new to kayak fishing and it looks totally awesome. Any suggestions ...more would work great. My budget is most probably about $1000-$1400. If there is a great kayak below $1000 I will gladly take it though.

Ride 135 if you want to stand up tarpon or thresher is you don't plan on standing up at all.
    2. crookcody19 0
No problem if you have any more questions about anchor size needed and things like that just message me on one of my pictures
    3. Aidan Chadam 0
Okay. Great thanks! Thanks for all the info I really appreciate it. I put something else like this up and so one replied. Thanks.
    4. crookcody19 0
Okay cool! Yeah I'd make a milk crate rod holders because yak attacks rod holder cost 50 dollars just for 1.
    5. Aidan Chadam 0
      @crookcody19 yea most probably.
    6. crookcody19 0
Are you going with the wilderness 135?
    7. Aidan Chadam 0
Have any rod holders built into it?
    8. Aidan Chadam 0
@Crookcody19 Thank you so much for all the input! I think I may go with this. A very good price and you seem to like it. Should I make one of those milk crate rod ...more holders because I see it does not
    9. crookcody19 0
      Wilderness system
    10. Aidan Chadam 0
Great!! Thanks is the ride 135 what brand is that? @crookcody19
    11. crookcody19 0
Carry 550 pounds of gear. And being 6,1 and playing sports you'll be able to carry any one of these kayaks just wanted to make sure ahah
    12. crookcody19 0
Times so that if it ever happens out in the ocean you'll be able to rely on your practice. Now with the ride 135 your going up in weight and a bit slower but ...more you increasing stability and being able to
    13. crookcody19 0
Might find better prices on there. Now with the tarpons though they are easier to tip over so if you get a tarpon I highly recommend you practice tipping your kayak ...more and getting back in it multiple
    14. crookcody19 0
Great deal! If you check out Hook1 they are having clearance sales so you
    15. Aidan Chadam 0
@crookcody19 Wow thanks for all the input. I am about 6-1 140 lbs. I play sports so in pretty good shape. I found the tarpon 120 on craigslist for $700 would that ...more be a good deal?
    16. crookcody19 0
Now again I'm a wilderness system kayak lover and am a little bias towards them. But I highly recommend you look at those models. If you don't mind me asking ...more how big are you?
    17. crookcody19 0
Speed. I'd look at the wilderness system ride 135 and the tarpon 120 or 140 models. In my opinion for you be better off with the ride 135 because it gives you ...more good speed and is also very stable.
    18. crookcody19 0
Look at the wilderness system tarpons and ride serious. Those are by far my favorite kayaks. If your going fishing in the ocean your going to want a kayak longer ...more than 12 feet to give you increased
    19. crookcody19 0
Look at the wilderness ride 115x and the 135 models. If your ocean I'd go with the ride 135 because it's faster.

Mainly Focusing of lingcod and rock fish. Any tips for either the two. Thanks!

    1. Aidan Chadam 0
Also what is a good lead head for this kind of fishing? Brand etc.
    2. kenny kenny 0
I like using white swimbaits with 4oz jigheads. They work great for rockfish
    3. Aidan Chadam 0
Thanks so much! Will do this and catch a lot of fish!
    4. Aidan Chadam 0
Just line to the lead with the jig
    5. Aidan Chadam 0
Wow! Thanks so much! What kind of rig should I use with the grubs!
    6. 9G3B 0
Check out jimmy decker 6" grub it will show the action of the grub
    7. 9G3B 0
Then put your reel in free spool and let it sink back down. You will likely get bit on the fall. The best love bait for lings is big sardines or small mackerel
    8. 9G3B 0
Awesome on the same leadheads as the grub. I always add a small strip of squid when using swimbaits for rockfish the scent helps with the best technique for the ...more plastics is a few fast cranks up
    9. 9G3B 0
The berkley 6" grub in white on a 2-6 oz leadhead is killer, the bigger the grub the better. Yo yoing bigger metal jigs in white with a whole squid will get ...more you big lings. Swimbaits from 5-9" are
