1. Tim, do you have any tips for catching burbot through the ice on Keweenaw Bay? I'd love to give it a shot but I've never done it before. Also, what kind ...more of gear do you use for them?

  2. Sorry I haven't been on for a while! I've been pretty busy with other stuff lately. Hopefully I will get to do a bunch of ice fishing this winter! Here is ...more a nice walleye from yesterday. Caught on a tip up with a sucker in a very unconventional way. I was marking most of my fish 20-30 feet down over 46 feet of water, so I went over to adjust the depth of the tip up. When I dropped my transducer down the hole I saw a big mark just below the sucker. I grabbed the line and started "jigging." When the fish started coming up I pulled the sucker up slowly to make him chase it, and he ate it! It was really cool to feel that kind of bite on a hand line. I fed him line for a minute just to make sure he had it, and then set the hook and pulled him in.

About

Hello! My name is Tim. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I fish for anything that bites on both ice and open water. I especially enjoy ...more picking apart waterways in search of trophy fish. I would rather catch one big fish than 100 little fish. Some of my favorite species include walleye, pike, smallmouth bass, and lake trout. I enjoy documenting my fishing adventures through photographs and videos. I graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2015. I currently work full-time as a mechanical engineer. Aside from fishing, I also enjoy hunting, skiing, photography, and researching advanced topics of theoretical physics, such as the quest for a unified field theory.
