1. They raised the water a couple of days ago on the river making things slow down a little bit. Now the walleyes are getting used to the high water and the current ...more and they are starting to pick up again. This year we have seen 8 fish over the 10 pound mark, which is the best we have seen in many years. Biggest one tipped the scales at just over 13 pounds. Jig and minnow or jig and a twister tail have been the number one producer so far. Walleyes should continue to get better in the next couple of weeks. Crappie fishing has also picked up a little. Dell Creek area seems to be the hotspot as of late. Small jigs tipped with minnows are working well. Stop by the shop if you have any questions or if you need bait. Good Luck!!!!

  2. The river has been open for about a week now and we are seeing lots of people getting on the water. Anglers are catching lots of fish and some are catching limits, ...more but its early yet. the bigger fish should start showing themselves as the water warms up a little. 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz jigs tipped with a minnow is the preferred bait of choice right now. Good Luck!!!

  3. Walleyes and saugers have really picked up since this cooler weather dropped in. Jig and minnow and jig and crawler combinations have been the most productive. ...more Targeting them is a little harder. The water level has been fluctuating quite a bit this last couple of weeks which in turn makes those walleyes reposition themselves. Have to be a little mobile to find them, but once you’re on them, that’s when the fun begins. Crappies also have picked up. We are finding them suspended in 10-12 feet of water along the rock ledges. Crappie minnows are the hot ticket right now. We have also had some reports of pike and musky being caught, but reports are few and far between. We are having our Fall Walleye Tournament this weekend. If you interested call us at the shop or stop by. Good Luck!!!

I'll be up there tonight, after work! This tourney has always been fun and hope to put a fish or two up on the board!
  4. Well we finally are going to have some fall like weather this weekend. Cold, Breezy, and some rain showers to go with it. The nice thing is, the fish love this ...more kind of weather. Fishing has definitely picked up compared to the last couple of weeks. Walleyes and smallies are biting at the dam. Jig and crawler combos are preferred, along with deeper diving crankbaits. We also started getting some crappie action picking up this week. Crappies were hanging off the rock walls, and we were catching them with crappie minnows. We will see how this weekend plays out, but it should be a good weekend for fishing. Good Luck!!!

  5. Smallmouth fishing has been on fire this last week. Seems like anything you throw is being hit by smallies. Crankbaits and spinners are working well, however, ...more nightcrawlers thrown on rocky shorelines have been tough to beat. Crappies have been fair, with anglers finding them by the rocky cliffs walls. Minnows are still the best for them. Walleyes are a little tougher. Most of the action has been trolling crankbaits. Good Luck!!!

  6. Lots of smallmouth being caught now, which if you have never caught a smallmouth on the river, your in for one of the best fighting fish around. We are getting ...more a lot of action on small Mepps spinners, as well as covering a lot of water. Black and gold countdown rapalas have also seen some action. Pike are still going good on sucker minnows. Catfishing has picked up quite a bit this last week. Some big ones are being caught on stink bait or nightcrawlers. We have seen some 20 pounders come into the shop recently. Most of the catfish action is below the dam. Walleyes are going good on leeches under a slip bobber. The average size has been around 15-16 inches, perfect eaters. We have heard some great bluegill catches this last week. Many of them a pound or bigger! Bluegills to are being found below the dam. Water levels are just a bit high right now and the discharge is normal. Fishing is definitely getting better. Stop in and get everything you need. Good Luck!!

  7. The water level on the river is about normal for this time of year, but the current is still pretty fast. Smallmouth have taken over this last week. A lot of ...more smallies being caught on leeches and spinner baits. Walleyes have been ok, with a couple of reports of leeches and countdown black and gold Rapalas working pretty good. No reports on musky, and the bluegills have been slow. Good luck.

  8. Water Temp 58.5. Water level is dropping. White bass have been hitting jigs tipped with minnows and small spinners. Crappies – white jigs tipped with minnows. ...more Walleye and smallies have been hitting countdown rapalas and jigs tipped with leeches. Muskies have been slow. Stop in the shop to talk to our staff and we will put you on some fish. Good luck.
