1. Lake Mendota has seemed to weather the storm okay. The shorelines are the worth part, along with the heaves. The last couple days of colder weather should have helped ...more lock things back up again. Use caution with the warmer weather for this weekend. The water along the shorelines was freezing back up, but there may be a couple soft spots that come back to life with the warm weather and high winds. Wear your ice creepers as it is a large skating rink now. Good luck and be safe!

  2. If you are looking to get out this weekend on Mendota and wondering how to get around the heave that runs from Gov Island to the West to Gov Nelson, I would access ...more at Gov Island. On the West side of the Island there were will a path that goes to a great crossing point for the heave just off the west point of the island (near the duck blind). It is the only spot I've found to cross the heave safely. Good luck and be safe!

Ryan you should submit that to the Braggin' Board. Given the slow pike season for the entire state and the below zero windchill temps I'd be sure to vote ...more for you!
    6. Brian K 0

  6. The water level has increased over 1 ft over night. As they let more water through expect fishing conditions to improve as the water temperature increases aswell. ...more Water temperature was 37 and climbing as of this morning. Most have had luck fishing the deep holes real slowly with lindy rigs. Picture is from a week ago roughly.

  7. The fishing has been slow lately for walleyes. Saugers are being caught in the deeper holes. With the increased flows, the fishing is just going to get better as ...more the water temperature increases aswell.

  8. Fished the Wisconsin River trolling cranks the last 3 days and slottered saugers with some walleyes mixed in. Kept a 3 man limit one day for the 3 of us, other days ...more let them all go. Lots of fat females caught and CPR'ED. Easily caught over 100 legal size fish with shorts and slots mixed in the 3 days, most fish were in the 14.5"-22" range. Fun day with buddies who had never experienced fishing before!

Nice! When are you taking us out?
  9. Anyone been out on the river?

    1. Noah Humfeld 0

  10. Who's got the itch to get in a boat on a local river? I know I'll be out soon.

About

I am a dieheart angler that usually focuses in on walleyes, although catching some trophy pike is always a blast.
