Deer Lake Fishing Reports

Recently shared catches and fishing spots

  1. Details: Rock Bass

Not too much success up here but we're still having fun. We had 25-30 bluegills and rock bass above 9" in the first 3 hours. So we had a nice little fish ...more fry the next day. Hopefully it picks up wishing the next couple days

  2. Details: Muskie with a Spinnerbaits

Throwback to when I caught a tiny pretty spotted Muskie like 4 years ago. It's probably 20 pounds somewhere now

  3. Details: Pumpkinseed Sunfish with a Worm

Caught a really pretty pumpkinseed, fishing has been really really slow, I'm back in Iowa! And fishing is slow as well here...

  4. Details: Northern Pike with a "Scum frog"

This is a 99 cent frog you can get for real low price! I casted into the lilies and this 2 lb pike came out of nowhere and gulped this frog. It went three inches ...more into the mouth. It was hard to get the hook out of the pike with small pliers. So I had to get through the gills to unhook it. I hope it's ok! It swam away slowly

  5. Details: Northern Pike with a White spinnerbait, medium sized, twister tail included. Various colors

I'm still catching a lot of 3 lb pike. I'm actually pretty fortunate because I can catch them. They put up a big fight! I found out the reason why some big ...more pike aren't biting. There must have been an unusual two waves of panfishing spawning season that disrupts the pikes feeding cycle. So the big ones are already filled up until the cold season begins. It's been an unusual year at the lake!

  6. Details: Smallmouth Bass with a Frogger, weedless. Texas rigged hooked

Caught two nice pairs of 19" smallies! This was a few days back and finally got the pictures for it after my fishng buddy left back to Iowa. They fight really ...more hard! They don't want to get in the boat. These two have nice girth and one was caught in rocky area as the other was in the weedier place, so you can tell which is which, not in this picture but In person it's easier. These are trophies!

Get a leader that has a spinner blade or two on it. Like a Booyah leader. I can't remember the exact name of it though.

    10. Joe Olsem 0
We've tried using big spinnerbaits and big jerk baits all week. And we've caught most of our bigger fish with the smaller lures. The problem is most of the ...more bigger fish have already been hooked. @DMyeWNY

  9. Details: Black Crappie with a Jig and worm

Jigged in eight foot of water with weedbeds shaped like cat-tails and put this worm in a hole and dragged out this 13" beast! I'm still fishing up in Minnesota ...more since my fishing buddy is back in Iowa working. I have 5 more days of fishing in Minnesota!

  10. Details: Muskie with a Small crankbait

DAY 5: It was the final day of our Minnesota fishing trip for me. And I went there with 1 goal. To catch my first muskie. It was about 8am when we spotted this big ...more girl cruising in the shallows. I started with using a spinnerbait but it didn't seem interested so I quickly swapped to a small crankbait. All I had to do was bump her and she swung back around and snatched it like candy. 42"
