    Details: Golden Rainbow Trout

    Caught this 16 inch rainbow in a calm river pocket. Threw my two nymphs in the current and let them float into the calm pocket and this one slammed it. Caught 14 ...more rainbows 1 cutbow and 5 white fish. I lost one 20+ inch rainbow and a nice cutbow. Gear: 9 ft 6 wt 4 pc TFO fly rod paired with an NXT 2 series reel.

    Fishin for trout and I caught my first PIKE! WOWZERS! I hooked him on my first cast using a Rapala Jointed 9 Rainbow Trout lure and in the chaos of netting him ...more and grabbing my pliers to remove the hook (my excited nerves didn’t help) he broke my line! Off he went lure and all. So if you catch a Yampa River Pike with my lure now you know! LOL

      And don't feel too bad. I lost an entire rod and reel once in a very similar way. I had the pike alongside the boat. I let down my guard to pick up my pliers. ...more The pike went crazy, and took off with my entire rod and reel in tow behind him.
