  1. Details: Channel Catfish

Went out fishing this afternoon and got a ton of bites by large cats. Caught these two almost simultaneously, both measured at 23".

  2. Details: Largemouth Bass

Went back to Mercer Lake yesterday afternoon. Mid 90's, mostly cloudy, light wind and water had slight stain. Didn't have a lot of time so went down to where ...more I could cast to stumps in 2-3fow. Cast beyond visible stump, working it slowly back, making sure to make contact with wood. Landed 1 and missed a few. Lots of fish chasing shad beyond where I could cast, about 30 yards out.

@tkotattoos thanks - yeah making contact is the only way I'm getting bit right now

Nice info...much like what earned me my success this morning.

@SSNoah lol I have to be! Very limited areas where you can access the shore, so I usually pick it apart!

Hit lake Royal early this afternoon. Water was muddy so concentrated on laydowns in 2-3 fow. Cast beyond the laydowns and slowly twitched the worm back. Fish holding ...more extremely tight to cover so had to make contact with the wood to get bit. Got 5 in 90 minutes. Partly cloudy, light wind, 90 deg and lots of poison ivy.

@tkotattoos wish I could say the same!
    2. Tim Knecht 0
Thankfully I'm one of the lucky ones who can roll around in poison ivy and come away clean lol
    3. Marcus Lane 0
@bassinboy01 I avoided all of it - thank goodness! Tight lines (and no ivy)!
    4. Jacob Breaux 0

Lake Mercer (Burke was closest listed). Got out this morning before the rain. Worked skitter pop everywhere - deep, shallow, near cover and open water. Several blow ...more ups - most near submerged wood in 2-4 fow. Ended up with 2. The one in the pic was close to 6 I think. Worked a twitch twitch, short pause, twitch twitch, long pause. All bites came on long pause. Overcast, no wind, 70, stained.PB 4 VA

@Dinow - Burke was just the closest on the list - it's actually from lake mercer - the area opposite the dam with the stumps

Went out to a local pond today hoping to catch a couple decent size large mouth, but only ended up catching this guy. It was about 85°F and the water was pretty ...more murky. I saw him around by the shore and I tossed my crank bait a couple feet from him and he attacked it when it went by him.

That water looks pretty clear to me I might just be used to the brown pond waters near me because of all the flooding and rain

    Another catfish from last night

  9. No school today made last night a fishing night. Went out with @zach_2431 and tore it up on live blue Gil's. It was truly amazing to see how well this fishery ...more has recovered after everything did out 3 years ago from a chemical spill. Fish looks very healthy and fought like it was 3x its size. Over all the lake is a solid place to fish and the drainage stem holds a lot of big fish.
