1. Love all the pics from your local haunts. I've fished Kettlewell Pond with mixed success for a couple years, and have always wondered about the fenced off area ...more to the south. Looks like it's a honey hole! If you see this post, I'd love to hear of some other places that a fellow pond hopper might be missing.

  2. Details: Steelhead Trout

Caught 3 steelhead and a limit of 6 Walleye today out of Wheatley. Fishing wasn't hot but there was pretty steady action with white bass and small Walleye. Only ...more had 4 steelhead takes and landed 3. Fishing in 55-60 fow. Steelhead were around 40-45 feet deep. Started the day off higher in the water and slowly figured them out. Air temp was 78* water temp was warmer than normal so the fish were deep

@seaturtles thanks! Guy on the right looks a little smaller from being scrunched up in the cooler. These fish are amazing. They jump like Marlin. Never seen anything ...more like it.

      Nice couple fish there! 👍

Another nice one on the frog. Fish wanted it fast today. Burning the frog and the legs on the back would twirl and create a buzz-bait like action. Caught most the ...more fish this way but a few twitching it. Conditions were hot and humid at 85*, overcast, 8:30 pm, stained water.

Another big one on the frog. Frog has been producing a lot of 4 pound plus fish lately. Weeds have gotten really thick and matted and punching and frogging are the ...more only ways to fish effectively. I like to cast out and move the frog quickly over the grass, then when it hits open water I'll let it sit and slightly twitch it. Conditions were hot and humid, 85*, right before a storm, 8pm.

  5. Details: Smallmouth Bass

Absolute hawg from northern Michigan. Was moving spots and my mom, who came out to read, said she saw three fish. We stopped and I barely saw one of them swimming ...more away. Cast in their direction and it only took 5 seconds and I was hooked up. Epic fight with a big jump. Caught at 9am, overcast, before rain, 7 fow on a sandy flat with some weeds next to a dropoff.

I'll address keeping the fish first. Personally I would have released them, but the guy I was fishing with was saying they taste amazing coming from such clear ...more and cold water. I'll take his word for it. We were fishing giant slabs of flat rocks in 7-10 fow. We would cruise or drift along looking for the fish on these slabs of rock and then sight fish them. Air temp was 75*, 5-8 mph wind, sunny.

...tho Smallies, as good as they may be, I don't view as a food fish and always release them. Again, that's just me tho. Now, if I' fishing for walleye ...more or perch, you' better believe I'm keepin a few
    2. Chuck LaBruna 0
Nothing wrong with keeping fish now and then, bud. Selective harvest is fine, and it's your business anyway you know? As you know, I also practice pretty strict ...more CPR, but now and then I'll keep some...
    3. ChrisA 0
@Drew72 I've heard they taste good, but I always catch and release if it's up to me. When I do keep them they are always good eating though.

      Nice!!

I practice CPR down here but wouldn't hesitate to cook some up again if I hit those northern lakes again

I grew up fishing northern waters and ate SMB & LMB on a regular basis. They are delicious!

Nice Michigan hog on the frog! Did a little punching and caught a few nice fish. As it started to get dark I figured I'd try the frog. Definitely paid off. I ...more landed this big guy as well as 3 other nice pass and 3 pike in about 30 minutes. Fishing matted grass with some pockets of open water. Using 50lb braid with a medium heavy rod. Caught at 9:00 pm. Temp was 75, water was clear, no wind or cloud

      Good fish
  9. The sunfish were averaging 9-10 inches. All were fat and had tall backs. My uncle and I are both over 6'2" with big hands and we could barely hold these ...more fish.

      Nice sunny dude!

      Fat!

@BIGsmallie thanks! This guy was 9.5" an inch under the biggest one of the day. These pumpkinseeds are beautiful fish and amazing fighters.
