Jake, Freddy and I went out for some catfish last night. We were bank fishing along the Hudson River in the Village of Catskill at Dutchmens Landing boat launch. ...more The tide was coming in pretty strong when we got there, which usually gets the fish active. We fished from about 6pm to 830pm and finished off the bag of shrimp we used last time. The fish slowed down an stopped just about when the tide did. Jake caught and released 6 cat fish. Freddy caught and released 1 catfish an a small white perch. I caught and released 12 catfish. This one here was one of the bigger ones.

Out bank fishing last night with Jake at the mouth of the Catskill Creek where it empties into the Hudson River. Stayed out well past dark trying for some of the ...more big channel cats that swim down deep. We used some old cocktail shrimp I found in the freezer on a #2 Eagle Claw bait holders. Had to use heavy slip sinkers to get the bait on the bottom because the tide was running in so hard. Jake did it again with 8 small catfish an 1 white perch. I caught 5 small catfish an 1 Green eel. None of the big ones wanted to bite but catching small ones beats getting skunked.

Up real early this morning and off to Good Year Lake, Town of Milford, Otsego County. This is a man made lake formed when the Colliersville dam was built on the ...more Susquehanna River many years ago for hydro electric power. I was fishing from my kayak and caught well over 30 sun fish and blue gills in about 2 hours. All were real nice slabs. At times it was almost like work trying to keep both poles in the water. I kept my limit of 25. All were caught on either earth worms from my compost pile on a #6 Eagle Claw bait holder or a neon green and white trout magnet tipped with a gulp maggot. Both performed about equal. Gonna be an awesome fish fry coming up.

Got in a couple hours fishing with Jake this morning at a small pond about a half mile from my house. I recently got permission to fish this pond. Its attached ...more to an Air BNB. Jake caught and released at least15 large mouth bass. I caught and released about 8 sun fish and this 22 1/2 inch catfish. I was using an ultra light ugly stick with 4 pound test line and a purple Mr Twister on a yellow jig head on a spinner. He made the drag sing a bit . All the sun fish were caught with worms from my compost pile on #6 Eagle Claw bait holder. I also ended up teaching one of the guest to fish for sun fish and bass. This guy barely spoke English and had a pole I would use to catch a whale. He still managed to catch a couple .

Got out late this morning with my dad and went over to Copake Lake. A great day, weather wise that is. Unfortunately the fish were not cooperative. Caught and released ...more one small mouth bass. Caught him on a blue an red trout magnet tipped with a red gulp worm. Dad did not catch any thing.

Got out late this morning kayak fishing with my boy Jake on Brant Lake, Town of Horican Warren County in the great Adirondack Mnts. I finally out fished him. Caught ...more and released 2 nice large mouth bass, 1 small mouth bass 5 yellow perch & about a dozen sun fish. He got 2 pikerel.All were caught on green and white or bright yellow trout magnets topped with gulp maggots.
