1. Details: White Crappie with a .223 TAC-MINNOW

Well caught one bass on this ridiculous fly, phone screwed up and lost the picture after release, and tried to catch another for proof of catching something... It ...more hit my rod while casting this heavy thing snapping my 8wt. So determined to catch another, I put it on my son's pole and caught this crappie in 4' stained water in front of a brushpile with overcast skies. Moral of the story:

  2. Details: Largemouth Bass with a .223 Tac-minnow fly pattern

Laying in bed the other night I thought of this ridiculous fly. This anti-liberal tactical assault minnow consists of this: 1 Rem .223 casing with a 3/32" hole ...more drilled for the rear hook shank, 5/32" hole drilled for the eye to pass through the flash hole, OD green paracord shredded at the tip with flex seal to hold the shape, Gamakatsu b10s 2/0 hook, utc 140 blk thread, small rubber band to fill

    1. King_Fisher 0
Haha I bet but I'm sure it will catch the chunks!
    2. Austin Austin 0
@King_Fisher Nevermind I weighed my heaviest fly (wet) on my reloading powder scale and it was about 61 grains... 👆this thing was 109 grains Haha! It's going ...more to suck casting, wish I still had my 9wt
    3. King_Fisher 0
Gotcha yeah I wouldn't want to go lighter than an eight!
    4. Austin Austin 0
@King_Fisher thats for sure! Im just waiting on a day without thunderstorms.
    5. Austin Austin 0
@King_Fisher Not yet. I'm definitely going to throw it with my 8wt though. It seems to be close to the same weight as my hybrid hog leech fly with 7/32 dumbell ...more eyes. I wont be throwing nice loops
    6. Austin Austin 0
@Cowboy713 Haha I definitely havent seen a gar popper before! I'm looking forward to seeing whatever ridiculous lure you are coming up with 👍
    7. King_Fisher 0
That's awesome have you tried throwing it yet? Seems like a lot of weight.
    8. Chris Skinner 0
Challenged to come up with some outlandish fishing lure/rig that we had to catch something on to receive credit! I've got an idea of what I want to do, I just ...more don't know how to do it yet
    9. Chris Skinner 0
It stemmed from a previous blert of a bass popper outfitted with nylon rope in place of the rear treble to catch gar and @MulletHead 's nested 'bama rig ...more idea from a couple years back. We were then
    10. Austin Austin 0
@Cowboy713 I didn't even know there was a contest going on like that! Haha I'm feeling confident that I can catch me a largemouth on it 👍
    11. Gabe Mitchell 0
      Hilarious! @Cowboy713 agreed!
    12. Chris Skinner 0
@MulletHead rediculous rig contest applicant! ⬆️⬆️⬆️ just gotta catch a fish on it haha
    13. Austin Austin 0
@flybob 👆 and the 2/0 is for my own protection alright! lol
    14. Austin Austin 0
      Lol thanks man!
    15. dillon juarez 0
That's ridiculous you don't need 2/0 hook let's ban them lol but serious cool fly
    16. Austin Austin 0
the space where the primer was, red 3d eyes cut at an angle (zap a gapped on and covered thoroughly with flex seal), and a dremel with a cutting wheel for hook slot ...more to the 3/32" hole.

  3. Details: Channel Catfish with a Brad cube flies wet and dry

Theres a popular park nearby where people always throw bread in the water feeding the ducks. So I tied up these bread flies dry and wet to get hooked up on some ...more cats and carp down there. White chenille, Gamakatsu b10s stinger size 2 with white saddle hackle doubled up to get it real thick for the wet fly. TMC 8089 size 6 bass bug hook for good gape on the deer hair cube. Trimmed both into cubes.

Yeah I've been wanting to catch some commons around my area but there's mostly grassies here not a lot of commons
    2. Austin Austin 0
@blakemcadams I wondered if you did something similar for your cat food imitation. Theres mostly just commons at this park. Thats ok though, Im an equal opportunity ...more carper Ha Ha
    3. Austin Austin 0
@Cowboy713 Thanks! I had thought about playing around with some foam as well.
    4. blakemcadams 0
That's exactly what I use for those grassies
    5. Chris Skinner 0
I like it, I used to do something similar with foam to make a dog food pellet fly for tank raised channel cats

  4. Details: Grass Carp with a Bee jay dough bait with slip sinker rig

Partly cloudy in clear water 8-10'. I was using a medium action rod with 20lb test. I felt a couple of bumps then nothing. So i was going to reel in to check ...more my bait, got maybe 1 crank in and boom he was on. Fought him for about 15 minutes. He maxed out my 50lb scale so Im guessing maybe 60-65lbs? Awesome fight and my hook was bent pretty good by the time he was in.

    1. blakemcadams 0
      Agreed, i love catching them
    2. Austin Austin 0
@blakemcadams Yep, thats why they are one of my favorite species of fish to catch!
    3. blakemcadams 0
That's awesome, i love when they pull drag like crazy
    4. Austin Austin 0

  5. Details: Largemouth Bass

Heres my custom 1984 coleman crawdad. I cut out a plywood floor, measured out and cut the front deck with battery storage compartment, carpeted it all, threw on ...more the foot control 45lb minnkota trolling motor, a couple of rod holders, and the lowrance dsi fish finder. I call it my fun size bass boat, not too bad for a cheap old boat.

  6. Details: Channel Catfish with a #10 olive backstabber

Went looking for a new carp hole since mine is inaccessible right now and failed, too murky. So I hit my catfish hole to not get skunked and got a couple this size, ...more murky 3-4' shake the rod tip & strip

  7. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Hybrid Hog Leech (also awesome in crayfish orange)

Thought I would share this pattern that has been effective for some nice bass. Gamakatsu B10S stinger 2/0 hook, estaz opal chenille, 7/32 black dumbbell eyes, black ...more rabbit zonker strip, 12-14 strands of green rubber legs with stripes drawn on, utc 140 blk thread. I work it like a jig and craw or something like that. Hope it gets some of you hooked up on some nice bass!

    1. jokerman8029 0
@FlyWhiteGuy87 nope. I really wish i did. Iv had quite a tight budget recently and still have a lot of things i need to buy. Always wanted to get into jig tying ...more and fly tying

  9. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Black Hybrid Hog Leech fly

Had an event today with my fly fishing club at a sand pit and I hooked up on this hog in 10-12' of crystal clear water over the top of a weed bed. 77 degrees, ...more a few clouds, maybe 5mph wind, 9' 8wt Lsi rod, 9wff rio bass line, slow retrieve, giving 1-3 short strips with a pause and he hammered it!
