1. Details: Northern Pike

First Derwent pike i caught this year. Only one of the night it was earlier in the year so they weren't fully active yet. Took the countdown with a medium erratic ...more retrieve in 7-8 ft if water with a weedy bottom. You could tell it was active by how solid its body was, they go softer when the water warms and they become active. Just before dark it took.

  2. Details: Yellow Perch with a Fox rage replicant rainbow trout pattern

Huge 4:10 perch my dad caught on Chew valley lake in South West UK last month. Had a great first day with good conditions so caught a good few pike. The second day ...more was much harder fishing with high winds and sunlight. We caught this perch in about 7 ft of water, this was the only fish of the day. This would have easily been over 5lbs if it was full of roach, its a possible record for that lake!

  3. Details: Northern Pike with a Live target scaled sardine twichbait

Decent pike from earlier in the year, caught this one on a day that had excellent pike conditions, caught this and a few more of a similar size, also losing a couple ...more of monsters. This one was caught in a weedy bad around 10ft deep, letting the bait go to about mid depth and make it swim erratically with hard jerks. The right action makes the it irresistible, and they will hit it, hard.

      Nice pike
  4. Details: Northern Pike with a Storm Wildeye jack pike

A fat pike from about 3 weeks ago. I fished a nearby lake and this was the biggest of a few that day. It had rained heavily the couple days before which cooled the ...more water down a lot, so the fishing was hard. I caught this one over a area of about 20ft which had a flat bottom, most likely sand or gravel. Because of this type of bottom i was able to fish my lure almost completely along the bottom.

  5. Details: Northern Pike with a Whole mackerel

A 10:08 pike from one of the UK' most famous fishing events the Chew Valley pike trials. Spend the day fishing with John Horsey, captain of the England fishing ...more team and ex world champion. I caught this pike around early afternoon. The first was great, with bites, follows and hits every couple of cast, then the sun came out and killed it, so the lure fishing dropped off and we had to put baits out.

  6. Details: Northern Pike with a Dougies roach fly

Good size pike from May this year. It was long but very skinny with a huge head, so im guessin it had only finished spawning not long before i caught it. Was a warm ...more overcast day with minimal wind. Best results by retrieving the fly with various length strips very slowly around mid depth. This was one of the best days I've had this year on Derwent water. Depth around 7ft with weedy bottom.

      Great fish on the fly!
  7. Details: Black Fin Tuna with a Williamson abyss jig

Big blackfin from the Keys this year off the marathon humps. We found our numbers and drifted over then whilst dropping the jigs down. It was flat calm so most of ...more the tuna were a lot deeper, about 200ft. We dropped below, sometimes all the way to the bottom hoping to get a queensnapper, then bring then up. The tunas allseemed to be mid depth, with the AJs below them

  8. Details: Tarpon with a Live pilchard

Throwback to one of my first poons, must have only been about 8 at the time. Caught this one drifting pilchard on a cork over a spot where they were all sitting. ...more We would anchor up current of the spot and drift the baits over it. Was around May/June when the tarpon were in full swing around the keys. These guys put up an unreal fight, every single one of them

  9. Details: Northern Pike with a Shakespeare Original big S

Fat pike from friday night. Caught him just as it was getting dark 8:20 ish. Mild with very little wind at all, almost flat calm. Caught this one in a little deeper ...more compared to where i usually fish, they tend to start going the deeper areas around september time, getting ready for winter. Caught some smaller pike along with some perch that night. Used the big S to get down to there depth.

  10. Details: Northern Pike with a Rapala clakin' minnow silver

My biggest pike today weighed more or less exactly 4lb on the scale. The pike fishing on derwent has awful recently because of the water temp being too high. I tried ...more fishing all the submerged areas where you usually get the larger pike after it has rained a lot. I caught this guy a little deeper in about 4m of water. Fishing was hard today due to the strong wind blowing in all directions.
