      It looks like a Green Sunfish or a Warmouth.

      I caught plenty perch / sunfish but never had a bass- like mouth

      Actually it's a red ear sunfish as you see the red tip on the edge of the ear. The fish itself to buy and stock in a pond is quite expensive.
