Evil looking Bowfin. This fish was caught in March of 2017 but I thought he would be an interesting post for variety this time of year. I read that the green fins ...more mean that he was in spawn, the eyespot on the tail indicates a male fish.

They fight like hell! I caught one that I should have weighed last spring it may have been a state or line class record.... Caught on 4 pound test easily 12 pounds, ...more it was a 15 minutes fight

Males and females both have spots, males have an orange outline around their spots while females have white rings.

The fish are not as impressive as the fact that I caught them in 20 mph wind padding a 14 ft flatbottom with 1 paddle and 2 people using a trailer hitch ball and ...more rope to anchor. Redneck fishing at its best☺
