JK, NICE! Keep pluggin away. Your catch might look like a large mouth by the strip pattern on both sides but if you want it to be a Smallmouth that's Great. ...more You had a close up look so maybe It had a smaller mouth we can't see? I'm sure you figured out what it is or was ? depending if you had a shore lunch and enjoyed the great tast of fresh fish. Enjoy

Mr. Joe, nice catch, I've caught every species of fish on Rapalas by casting floaters from a boat to the shoreline, I let it sit still until the splash wave ...more spreads out a couple seconds or so, I then tighten line and one or two short jerks which sometimes triggers a hit, If not I let it sit there for a a couple seconds and jerk it again and start railing it in a couple feet, stop and repeat the same action and wind it in which also triggers a hit. If no boat I sneak along the shoreline casting a head of me with your lure landing about 2' from shore especially around overhanging brush/trees, always target the fallen trees that extend our into the water using the same method. boulder and rocks along the shoreline are hot spots. I like #7 floater in silver w/black, and Perch some times smaller. I use #7 and sometimes #9 floaters when trolling in 3 to 6 feet and sinkers in deeper water, Tying your line to the lure gives better action then using swivels and your line won't twist up because most crank baits won't roll, Using swivels on spinners prevents your line from twisting. Fish I caught on Rapalas: Large and Small mouth bass, Crappies, Perch, Walleye, (Tiger Muskies, Northern Pike on #9) Catfish, Bluegills Strippers (and a Monkey, Only Kidding) Have Fun..
