We have a group that will be fishing Cable Lake March 3rd and 4th. We plan to be out there all day so if anyone wants to meet us, offer advice or here how we did ...more send me a message. I'll be sure to post our findings and methods.

We fished for about 8 hours until dark that day. Caught 10-15 northerns in the grassy flats up and down the southwest corner of the lake. All were caught on top ...more water baits. All were relatively big but nothing over 3ft. All caught in about 5 feet of water or less.
We caught about half a dozen smallmouth bass on the south side were it is a rocky drop off with rattlin' crank baits. We also caught a few smallies on the west shore just south of the cabins on the flats. Those were caught on surface baits and were much larger. They were caught on beds so we snuck in with the trolling motor. Had to really reach with the casts or we would spook them off the beds.
We ended the night on the north end of the lake by a drop off with a bit of a flat next to shore. We caught 3 relatively big large mouth bass with top water plugs next to the shore. We caught 2 decent walleye with a rapala original (black top and orange/red bottom)
Overall about 20-25 fish for the day, all decent size but no lunkers. We had three relatively experienced guys fishing and worked hard for the fish. We talked to a few other boats that only caught a couple while fishing.
