  3. I'm going to California for spring break what should I use to catch fish from a beach. What gear and bait?

    1. Chris Skinner 0
Just a hop and pause retrieve should be fine
    2. Evan Anderson 0
How should I work it? @Cowboy713
    3. Chris Skinner 0
Yea, those will be fine too, striper just really like bucktails for whatever reason
    4. Evan Anderson 0
Okay thanks would plastics work? @Cowboy713
    5. Chris Skinner 0
      Yea, same thing, different name
    6. Evan Anderson 0
      @Cowboy713
    7. Evan Anderson 0
Okay is a hair jig like a buck tail?
    8. Chris Skinner 0
Any cut bait will work as long as it's bloody, they have rays there too that will give you a battle
    9. Evan Anderson 0
I just wanna catch something that will give me a fight what would I use to catch shark? @Cowboy713
    10. Chris Skinner 0
If the water is warm enough you might be able to but again it's not gonna be like the gulf/Atlantic, people catch more leopard sharks and stuff like that rather ...more than Bulls and blacktips and stuff here
    11. Evan Anderson 0
      @Cowboy713
    12. Evan Anderson 0
Would I Be able to catch small sharks?
    13. Chris Skinner 0
Hair jigs, spoons, and poppers would probably be fine for arties, as for bait, whatever you can catch in the surf, plus shrimp, squid, or small crabs should all ...more be fine
    14. Evan Anderson 0
What baits? Any plastics I should buy? @Cowboy713
    15. Chris Skinner 0
Well all but the Stripers will take smaller hooks like you're fishing for whiting in the gulf, striper will take circle hooks, but nothing as large as we use ...more for drum fishing
    16. Evan Anderson 0
      Like what? @Cowboy713
    17. Chris Skinner 0
No reds, or black drum in Cali, you're most likely gonna be chasing corvina striper, and surf perch, all of which can be caught with similar tactics as gulf ...more fish, but with slightly different gear
    18. BIG_GAME_TACKLE 0
I got some 3' 200# surf rigs for reds, black drum, etc and 5' 200# casting shark rigs all made up and ready to ship

If the current is slow you can get away with a number 5 rap
    2. Jordan Honsinger 0
Been catching fish on size 7 raps black/silver, and clown colors, and a simple perch rig on the bottom has been producing walleye.
    3. Evan Anderson 0
      Oh okay thanks @Cale
    4. Cale Ellingson 0
Oh yeah and a demon is a little flat tear drop jig that is white/yellow with a orange or pink tip

    6. Evan Anderson 0
Yeah I was gonna try that this year just dead sticking a minnow over the bottom
    7. Cale Ellingson 0
If the walleye are really being picky I use a crappie jig with a Minnow hooked through the back 6 inches off the bottom on a bobber line
    8. Cale Ellingson 0
Jigging raps, spoons like Swedish pimples , buck shots , ect.
    9. Evan Anderson 0
