1. Details: 9 lb. 9 oz. 20 in. Common Carp with a Corns

2nd fish of the night. She only had one eye. I did not want to land her as I was not prepared for the 1st one I caught, let alone this one. I got her all the ...more way to the dock and then played her a while before I reached down to grab her. As I did she bumped into the dock and buried the hook into the wood. I watched her do it. She was almost exactly the same size as the 1st fish so I put in the info as the same. I also heard and seen the wake of a huge carp just before catching the 2nd fish. Probably pushing 20lbs or more. Not sure why people don't show more love to carp. They fight pretty good, they are fairly easy to catch, and they are abundant. Pick any lake, river, or pond and you can be guaranteed there are a few big carp there. Hey it's ok with me because less competition for me.

  2. Details: 9 lb. 9 oz. 20 in. Common Carp with a Corns

Stopped at my friends private dock in Blawnox to do some carp fishing. Caught this fish in the first hour. Also tried messing around with method mix. I used oatmeal ...more and kernel corn. Best to use real oats not quick oats, and creamed corn, not kernels.

  3. Caught this big girl just before we were going to pack up for the night. She bit at around 4am and fought hard for about 15 minutes. I thought for sure she was ...more going to break my line because I had to keep pulling line off the reel with my hand as she ran. According to my rusty spring scale, she weighed 16 lbs.

      Nice!!
  4. Stopped by Friday night to fish for carp with a buddy of mine. It was a peacful night as the lake was fairly quiet. When we got there the closest people to us ...more decided to leave. We ended up catching 4 fish. 3 carp 8lb, 9lb, and 16 lb, and 1 small yellow bullhead. It was a fun night and plan on going again soon.

  5. A friend of mine who went nightfishing with me. This is his 1st carp of the year. He also caught a cat but it was maybe 1lb so we did not get a picture.

I forgot to add.... When this fish initially ran, she spooled my friends reel. She pulled out the entire length of line from his reel in a matter of seconds. I ...more think she may have touched the other side of the lake as far as she went! He is not an avid fisherman, but enjoys going, so he had no clue she took all the line until I started frantically telling him to "reel!, reel!". It was a good fight too. One he will surely never forget.
  6. I know the picture is bad, but it is better than nothing.

  7. Attention: The Northmoreland park boathouse is closed and appears to have been since the close of last season. Not sure when it is opening, call before you go ...more to the boathouse.

I seen a few LM bass cruising the shallows so I threw out the chigger craw. Caught a nice little 10" LM.

Do you know what kind of fish are in North Moreland Park?
  9. Stopped by last night around 9pm and set up to do some night fishing. Apparently so did half of PA. Across the way from my spot was a group of 5 or 6 people who ...more kept talking loud enough for their voices to echo. And I had the pleasure of listening to them talk about tampons and periods and pooping. On top of that they kept walking the shoreline and repeatedly shining their light up and into my face. I am sitting in the dark, I don't want you light in my face, thanks. After they left I started getting bites but did not land anything. Got them both close though. A short while later around 2am a car pulls into the upper lot above the dam and proceeds to shine his 800million candle power spotlight in my face, over and over again. They get out, walk down to the water and stand there, for around 45 minutes just shining there lights all around and you guessed it.....in my face. I am going to buy the most powerful light I can find and I'm going to start doing it to them with a nice little "please keep your light out of my eyes". as I blast them with the artificial power of the sun. Kind of sad all the idiots that visit this place. The lake is really going down hill as far as the people who visit that have no respect for the environment, or the other patrons who are also there visiting.

  10. I had caught small LM bass at this spot and cast out to the spot again. The big mamma swiped at the lure but missed. I reeled in and recast and wham!! She smacked ...more it!!! Picture was taken by my late father who was not technologically inclined at all, as you can see. By the time I realized the picture was bad, she was already halfway to the other side of the lake at that point.

About

I am a bank fisherman. In the past I fished with a bass club and fished 10 or so tournaments a year for 3 years. Never got paid, but had a ...more ton of fun, and learned a lifetime of tips and tricks from those guys. My profile pic was a tournament I placed 1st with 15lbs 10oz. They were all caught off a laydown on an old creek channel with deep cranks. Thanks Adam for showing me that spot! Now I primarily fish just for fun. I prefer bass fishing but recently have been getting back into carp fishing which is different but also a blast.
