I live near the Rome landing and have caught them on the south side of the river between the launch and Rome island in the faster, deeper water. Sorry I wasn't ...more trying to be vague. I know you need them for those monster cats you catch! Good luck!!

I don't know where exactly but I have usually caught them near the surface, in faster moving water with small spinners, flies and minnow imitating lures. I look ...more where the current is pushing debris and watch for and fish around the swirls. I don't target them specifically but have caught them like that.

I'm trying to catch a load Wednesday, where are they running?

no sir. never have eat them. I stockpile for the family and myself to catfish and stripe fish during winter.

Wow that's a lot of fish! That's some good fishing. Excuse my ignorance, I know they are herring but do you eat them? The Cumberland river is literally ...more out my back door near Rome. I've caught them and they fight good but all I've heard people say about skipjack is that they use them for cut-bait for catfish and Stripes/Rockfish.
