Crappie - FALL CRAPPIE FISHING IS HERE!!!!! The reports that are coming into the store are great. There are have been many reports of limit catches this week. ...more With the lake levels around 356, many people are finding brush piles in Jonathan Creek around 12-14 ft. Minnows and Jigs are both working great. It isn't cold enough for hair jigs yet. The most popular color so far has been Bobby Garland's Devil's Grin in a Mo'Glo. We now carry Bobby Garland Mo'Glo Fish Attractant and Small Rattles made fro Crappie Jigs.
Bass - With cloud cover, the top water bite is producing in shallow areas. The Hopkins County Bass Club tournament produced a first place 25+ pounds. Also, many bass are wanting a smaller profile worm. Check out the Zoom Mag II in Plum and Heddon's Chug'n Spook in Bone or Silver/Black. If you are needing a nice topwater rod, we have new Falcon's 6'6" Medium Heavy's coming in this week. Great length to WALK THE DOG!
Redear/Bluegill - The Bluegill bite has picked up in the last week. We have seen many fisherman bringing in great catches. The Moffit or Shelton bluegill bug, redworms, or plain ole nightcrawlers have been working. The bluegill are in the shallows. So grab a cork, a nice spinning rod, and go catch them.
Catfish - If you are wanting to catch catfish, grab a bottle of Cheesebait and some Doc's worms and head to the channels. Local guide Lynn Lane said that in one trip that he produced two cooler fulls using this method.

Bass - The cooler weather for July has been a blessing. Zoom Ol'Monster, Luck-E-Strike Ringer, and Netbait C-Mac in a plum color have been the big worms to throw. Joe Spait spoons have been effective the past few weeks in silver with chartreuse tape. Redear/Bluegill - Redear have been hard to catch this year. However, the bluegill have turned on the past few weeks. Many fisherman are finding them in shallow water using live bait. Catfish - Catfish are being caught with Sonny's stink bait using a Doc' Catfish Worms in many depths of water.

Live bait and jigs have been the bait of choice. ...more Bass - With the lake levels at summer pool and staying pretty consistent, the bass are being caught on the ledges. A 10-12" plum worm has been very effective on ledges. Deep diving crankbaits with lots are of chartreuse. Redear/Bluegill - Catfish are being caught in the deep water. Leeches are on fire. Without leeches, you might as well stay at home. Redear and Bluegill have slowed down a bit on the gravel bars. Redear have slowed down the most, but bluegill can still be caught on crickets and wax worms.
KENTUCKY LAKE FISHING REPORT- BASS- The bass have moved to the ledges. Big worms and crankbaits have been producing big catches. Kentucky Special and Plum worms ...more have been the choice. Rapala DT 16 Chartreuse, Bomber BD7 Citrus Sparkle, and Strike King 6XD/10XD in Chartreuse Sexy Shad. BLUEGILL/REDEAR- Moffitt and Shelton's Bluegill bugs tipped with a wax worm. Crickets have also been a great choice. CRAPPIE- The crappie bite has moved into the deep. Medium minnows have been the bait of choice. CATFISH- Catfish are biting leeches.
