Branson: ...more Fishing guides watched fish move off and back on the beds over the past week, the cold front that brought storms to the north and south of the area backed fish off the beds for a couple of days but by the weekend numerous males could be found on beds waiting to spawn. The best sight fishing baits this past week have been Tightlines UV finesse worms in in UV green red flake on a Jewel 3/16 oz. Squirrel head or a Tightlines tube on a Bass Pro ¼ oz Zeka rig. If you are not interested in sight fishing, Jewel spider jigs, Squirrel heads and split shot rigs are still producing on secondary points near the mouth of spawning coves.
Kimberling City: Definitely a better sight fishing bite in the Kimberling City area. Branson fishing guides are targeting fish on beds in most of the larger creek arms with the same baits as in the dam area. Better fish have been spawning a little deeper so look for beds around seven feet deep to hold larger males that are locked on the nest. There are still fish to be caught on secondary points close to spawning areas as well; Squirrel heads, UV Tubes and split shot rigs have al bee effective ways to put numbers and quality in the boat.
James River: Branson fishing guides have been all over the spawn in the James for most of the week, fish in the stained water seem to be a little further along and the cold front didn’t seem to move them off like it did on the lower end. UV baits are still top performers in the dirty water look for fish to be bedded up close to rook or rock cover in spawning coves. Early and late there has been a topwater bite starting in the James as well, watch for surfacing fish and throw spooks, Sammies and red fins.
White River: The sight fishing bite gets better the further you head up the White River; from Baxter to Shell knob it is similar to Kimberling City, above Shell Knob and into the Kings River there are several fish locked on in just about every cove and pocket. UV baits are dominate on beds here as well, watch how a fish reacts when you pitch a bait into a bed, there are aggressive fish in every cove so don’t spend a lot of time on ones that run off when a bait hits their nest. The best top water action on the lake has been in the Kings River especially above Viola to the state line. Watch for surfacing fish early and late to be successful.

Branson: ...more Fishing guides are seeing fish on beds all over the lower end of the lake right now. Several are locked on and more will be locked on by the time the weekend gets here. If you like to sight fish now is the time to come to Table Rock. The best presentations are smaller baits fished with a light weight. Branson fishing guides have been doing well with Tightlines UV green red flake finesse worms and tubes on either a Jewel 3/16 oz. squirrel head or a light weigh Zeka rig. Split shot rigs and Squirrel heads are also working for staging fish on secondary points near spawning coves.
Kimberling City: The spawn is a little further along in the Kimberling City area. Branson fishing guides have been targeting fish with the same Tightlines lures and head combos wherever beds are found. Staging fish have been a little bigger than the spawners, look for them to be holding between 6’ – 15’ deep on secondary points at the mouths of spawning pockets. Jewel Squirrel head jigs with UV finesse worms and beavers have been the best presentation.
James River: The rain over the weekend has added some more color to the James River making sight fishing a little more difficult than in Branson. Fishing guides have been targeting bedding fish with UV baits but have done better with solid colors like UV green or black / blue. If you are having trouble finding beds remember that fish will use rock and wood cover to spawn next to, usually backing up to the cover so they don’t have to protect the full 360 degree area of the nest.
White River: The further up the White River you go the further along in the spawn the fish are. Better fish have locked on from Shell Knob on up while you will still see mostly “cruisers” down to Kimberling City. The same presentations are working for spawning fish on the White. Split shot rigged UV finesse worms and fish doctors have been the ticket to target staging fish, work secondary points from 5’ – 12’ deep near spawning pockets to be successful.

Branson: ...more Fishing guides continue to see improvement in the Dam area of the lake, rising water levels and temperatures have fish moving shallower on to secondary points and toward spawning areas. Stickbaits and wiggle warts continue to produce on the lower end but a few other baits have been producing as well. XPS single tail grubs fished on secondary and main lake points have been putting fish in the boat particularly on windy days. Smoke, salt and pepper and milky salt and pepper have been effective on a ¼ oz. head. Split shot rigged UV finesse worms and French fries have also been working, drag them slowly along the bottom to draw strikes.
Kimberling City: Just like in Branson fishing guides have seen a dramatic improvement in the mid lake area. Stickbaits while still effective have not been the best option, wiggle warts and Bandit 300’s are working well on 45 degree chunk rock in the larger creek arms and Jewel Pro Spider jigs have been very effective on secondary points. Look for fish to be staged and moving up to spawn; secondary points in the mouths of spawning pockets have been key areas. Cast Jewel spider jigs and split shot rigs toward the bank and work out to 15’ deep to catch staging fish.
James River: Despite the cold front that came in over the weekend the bite up the James River has is still improving. The best baits have been a combination of Wiggle Warts and Jewel jigs targeting staging fish moving from deep to shallow water. Look for 45 degree chunk rock and mixed rock, ledge and gravel banks and points to be the most productive areas. The stained water of the James has fish holding very shallow, don’t overlook water less than 3’ deep as it has been holding better fish. The best areas have been transition areas when rock or ledges break down to gravel and large rocks are mixed into smaller rock or gravel. Branson fishing guides work these areas thoroughly with a Jewel jig paying close attention to any shady spots.
White River: The White River is still producing some great days of fishing; Wiggle Warts, Jewel Jigs, split shot rigs and grubs are all producing both numbers and quality from Baxter to above Shell Knob. Steeper banks have been the most productive with a Wiggle Wart, 45 degree channel swing type banks will produce both numbers and size, pay close attention to the ends of the swings where rock changes size and breaks down to gravel. Jewel jigs have been effective in these same areas but use them on secondary points near spawning coves as well; cast to the bank and work along the bottom to 15’ deep. The same pattern has been producing with a split shot rig for Branson fishing guides; rig the split shot with UV finesse worms, French fries or UV hogs to draw strikes. On windy days swim XPS single tail grubs on windy gravel points to put a mixed bag in the boat.

Branson: ...more Fishing guides continue to see the lower end of the lake improve as the water warms and lake levels rise. The best bite has been on a combination of wiggle warts and stickbaits. Look for fish to be in transition areas where channel swing rock banks lead to points near spawning pockets. Brown and green crawdad patterns have been best on a wart, make casts more or less parallel to the bank maintaining bottom contact throughout the retrieve. Stick baits have been more effective closer to secondary points near spawning pockets, work the bait fairly fast to draw a reaction strike.
Kimberling City: Much like in Branson fishing guides have been doing well in the mid lake with wiggle warts and stickbaits. Add to that a solid jig bite and the fishing has improved tremendously over the past two weeks. Jewel Pro Spider jigs in Okeechobee blue or PB&J have been the best colors match them with either a finesse craw or a J Tail trailer and work rocky transitions near spawning pockets.
James River: The water has warmed significantly over the past week with an influx of run off, higher air temperatures and longer days. All of which has Branson fishing guides targeting fish shallow from Aunts creek to Cape Fair. Most of the fish are coming on wiggle warts, stickbaits and Jewel Pro Spider jigs but a few have been caught on Carolina rigged UV hogs and UV Enkos on points leading into spawning pockets. This bite will improve as the water warms and fish stage up even more.
White River: The White River continues to produce both quantity and quality; much like the rest of the lake wiggle warts, stickbaits and Jewel jigs have been very productive throughout the White River. In addition Branson fishing guides have caught several fish have been caught on split shot rigs over the past week, French fries, UV Finesse worms and UV Craws have all been working on a split shot. Look for points leading into spawning areas and work the rig slowly along the bottom from 3’ - 15’ deep.

Branson: ...more Fishing guides have seen a dramatic turn around on the lower end of the lake. Warming water and rising lake levels have made fish more active and has moved them shallower. The best patterns on the lower end have been with an XPS single tail grub, a storm wiggle wart and a Jewel Spider jig. Rig a smoke or salt and pepper single XPS single tail grub on a ¼ oz. head, target main lake transition areas where rock changes to gravel, count the bait down to a variety of depths until you start getting bites. The wiggle wart bite has been better on windy days, look for 45 degree rock banks to be the best locations. Channel swing banks close to spawning areas have been key for a jig. Jewel Pro spider jigs in green pumpkin candy and PB&J have been best matched with a J Tail grub or UV Beaver.
Kimberling City: Just like in Branson fishing guides have found fish moving shallow with warmer water and rising lake levels. The same patterns of a grub, jig and wiggle wart are working in this portion of the lake as well. Key on transition banks close to spawning areas to be effective. In addition a few fish have been caught on a Jewel Squirrel head this past week. A 3/16 oz. Squirrel head matched with a 4” UV green red flake work has been producing some better quality fish a little deeper off the bank in these same areas.
James River: The James River has warmed up very fast over the past week; dirty water and sunshine are a great combo to move fish into the shallows. Much like in Branson fishing guides have been doing well with wiggle warts and Jewel jigs from Aunts Creek to above Cape Fair; main lake and larger creek arm channel swing banks have been the key locations, look for areas of smaller rock and pea gravel to best. White bass continue to run up the James as well, the best bite has moved to above Bridgeport into the upper reaches of the lake.
White River: Still holding on as the most productive area of the lake the White River will produce with a variety of patterns. Much like in Branson fishing guides have been putting fish in the boat with Jewel Jigs, Wiggle warts and by swimming XPS grubs. In addition there have been several fish taken this past week on a split shot rig. Most of these have been fish that are already staging on secondary points near spawning areas particularly in the larger creek arms. Set your rig up with a ¼ oz. weight and about a 16” leader, the best baits have been French fries or UV Finesse worms. Drag the bait on the bottom from 3’- 15’ deep to draw strikes.

Branson: ...more Fishing guides have begun to see a turn in the attitude in the fish on the lower end of the lake. While the bite is not on fire it has certainly improved over the past week. The best bite has been on a combination of stickbaits and Jewel jigs; look for fish to be holding close to channel swing banks toward the back of larger creek arms. Secondary points near channel banks have been best with a stick bait; look for fish to be suspended around 10’ deep in these areas. Jewel spider jigs in Okeechobee blue or PB&J have been effective in these same areas.
Kimberling City: The bite has also improved in the Kimberling City area; stickbaits, Jewel jigs and umbrella rigs have been the most effective presentations. Much like in Branson, fishing guides have been keying on channel swings to find fish. Jewel jigs and SPRO or Megabass stickbaits have been effective much like in Branson. Add to these bites an umbrella rig and the fishing is starting to turn around in the mid lake.
James River: Despite the colder water up the James River Branson fishing guides have been doing well. Jewel jigs have been very effective on both main lake and larger creek arm channel swings. Look for fish to be on the last two channel swings of the larger creek arms moving shallow when sun warms the water and holding in the channel when cloudy. The white bass have begun to run up the James look for large schools chasing shad from Cape Fair to Bridgeport.
White River: The White River continues to have the most consistent bite on the lake. Jewel spider jigs on channel swing banks, stickbaits on channel points and umbrella rigs continue to be steady producers. Add to that a solid wiggle wart bite and you have the only area of the lake that is holding to a normal spring pattern. The wiggle wart bite has been on channel banks on the main lake and in the larger creek arms, parallel these banks 8’ – 12’ deep and maintain bottom contact to draw strikes.
