Hooked this unique fish on a black jitterbug around 8:35pm last night (explaining the bad clarity haha). Looks to be a first for me with a Redear/Green Sunfish hybrid. What do yall think? The very next cast after this fish a 1.5lb+ bass blew up on my bait and then nothing.

Good eye I completely missed the fin coloration @theSturgeonGeneral13 you're completely correct, that greenish tinge is a dead give away

Yeah the orange on the fins made me immediately point towards Green Sunfish and something else. I was on the right track just forgot about shell crackers haha @theSturgeonGeneral13

No problem @FISH_FEST and I do believe it is a hybrid @TennesseeTroutboy I have done a fair bit of sunfish ID and the fin coloration is that of a Green and the mouth ...more is larger than a plain Redear's

Just a plain ole Redear sunfish, and I'm surprised he hit a jitterbug

Since we don't have Pumpkinseed here in Texas I suspect it's a Green Sunfish/Redear Sunfish hybrid.
