Had a good day in Long Granny area. Plenty of trout and reds.
Last few weeks of July. Outgoing and incoming tides. The rain cooled the water temp down to 82 degrees. ...more The trout were lively and the reds were also biting well. Small pin fish and shrimp. Pin fish worked best on both species. It seems that if the water stays cooler the reds bite much better. With all the rain we've had it should stay good as long as the water stays cooler.
Outside, the fishing was poor in the last week of July. Made one trip at the end of the month to a hole about 15 miles out. Two of the guys got sick from the heat and the fishing was poor, only one keeper red grouper and a few grunts. Moved around but it was still poor fishing.
