31 inch summer run buck caught this winter. Beautiful dark coloration, really a spectacular fish. These dudes have a lot of shoulders even at this stage, on standard ...more gear it still took me about 10 minutes to tail this beauty. He's a hatchery fish but was released. Kept my limit of brighter fish.

  2. Details: Coho Salmon

These patterns are hand tied rabbit/marabou twitching jigs for coho and chum salmon. My jig tying has come a long way in three years and this is the result. Twitching ...more jigs is an effective method of salmon fishing in deep holding water and amongst cover. Often when salmon won't bite anything, they will smack a twitched jig. I use 30lb braid so I can pull the jigs off of snags without losing them.

  3. Details: Chinook/King Salmon

Kings keep coming! This hatchery hen decided that she had enough of my spinner and smacked it! She was around 36-38 inches long. Mismatched gear = no big deal, just ...more a longer fight. Took a couple pics and released her.

I thought the fish I caught yesterday were big. This wild brute measured 42 inches. No idea how much it weighed.... At least 25, approaching 30? More? Big dude peeled ...more line like crazy right off the bat. I had to scramble up two rocks while fighting the fish with one hand and traverse 50 yards of craggy shoreline. You gotta go way back to find the lair of giants here.

  5. Details: Chinook/King Salmon

Hooked the King of the river today. Actually three of them. This wild one put down a crazy fight, over 20 minute battle to land him. He covered both ends of an 100 ...more plus yard pool.... man they are strong. I always seem hook the big fish on mismatched gear, so playing him on a light twitching rod made for some incredible runs. He needed little revival after being landed, he swam off strong as ever!!

      Woot. Congrats man!
  6. Details: Steelhead Trout

I seem to catch more steelhead when I'm trout fishing than when I'm actually targeting steelhead. This 30" fish smacked my spinner in a swift run and ...more took me for a jog downstream through some riffles and rapids. My ultralight tackle and single barbless hook held through it all and I landed him, probably more than ten pounds. Hatchery fish, so I kept him.

  7. Details: Steelhead Trout

Hatchery steel, 30 inches of muscle and determination. This 10 pounder was landed on a 7ft ultralight trout rod and 6lb flouroclear line in fast moving water. A ...more single barbless hook held this beast through flips and drag-peeling runs, I had to fight the fish for almost ten minutes and chase it down a good sized rapid. I swear I catch more steelhead when trout fishing than when targeting steelhead.

  8. Details: Chinook/King Salmon

My first King salmon out of the skykomish river system. I was actually fishing for trout when I caught him, so I fought him on a 7' ultralight rod with 6lb flouroclear ...more line. I can't believe I actually landed him on such light tackle.... A nine pound king will bulldog its way around a river, and it took me under logs and in between rocks. I had to chase him downriver 60 yards. C&R; seasons closed.

  9. Packing heat! Haha happy forth everyone. Visiting family out in MN, and when family meets great weather, great water, and great fishing, memories are born that won't ...more be soon forgotten!!

    Walleye

  10. Details: Steelhead Trout

Nice steelhead caught on the Skykomish River today. 28" long and a hair over 10lbs, beautiful hatchery buck. The low clear water and dry conditions have made ...more fishing tough in the rivers, but downsizing gear and switching to darker colors can make all the difference. Tight lines y'all!

Nice fish. I see the finger didn't keep you off the water.
