      It's a freshwater drum/gaspergou/ or sheephead as we call them in the north. I would release it they are not a good tasting fish.

      I'd release it. If you started catching a bunch of them you could start keeping them, but one perch won't make a meal.

      Shouldn't be keeping a fish that size no matter how it was caught, the meat is mushy compared to 15'-18' fish.
