1. Details: Channel Catfish

#contest2015. I had an awesome 2015 with lots of crazy fishing experiences weather it be catching a new PB bass on the fly or helping a friend land a 15lb snagged ...more mirror carp I pointed out to him, but this was one of the craziest! I wasn't paying attention while cat fishing and my rod got pulled in the water after a few minuets the rod but floated up and I thought the fish was off so I swam out to

    1. King_Fisher 0
Get it but as soon as I started pulling the fish started pulling back and I only had one are to swim with since I was holding the rod in the other!
  2. Details: Channel Catfish

Funny story behind this cat I was talking to a friend when my rod flew in the water the but floated up and after some coaxing I swam out and got but when I grabbed ...more the rod the fish started pulling in the other direction so I was swimming one handed while getting pulled in the other direction! Any way I was throwing the bait into about 5fow and waiting for cruising fish to hit simple but effective

Nice bass I caught today there of there beds in this pond and are cruising now and eatin every thing. Threw my fly right about a foot outside a lay down and just ...more letting it sit and waiting for the fish to pic it up. Air temp was 80 and sunny and water was in the 60s and clear.

SLAB crappie I caught today (that's a size 12 for reference) and that's about average for this pond! Not touch to it today just putting the fly either where ...more I saw fish or around cover the one trick was to really wait u till you felt the pull before you set the hook. Pulled this guy off a drain pipe I always target drains when pond fishing because not only do they provide cover but they also ⬇️⬇️

      nice slab!
    7. King_Fisher 0
They also provide moving water which pulls bait through so you can find fish near them more often than not. Air temp was 80 and sunny and water was warm and clear.

  5. Details: Bluegill Sunfish with a Weighted McCrawly fly, 6' of 1x tippet, 7 wt. orvis bass FWF fly line, 9' 7wt. Rod.

Chunk of a bluegill I caught today there starting to spawn super early this year. Throwing the aptly named (by @wyldechylde77) McCrawly (see my last blert for a ...more pic) pretty much throwing it in either where I saw fish or around cover and just letting it sit until something picked it up. You really had to let fish eat it and wait for the rod to bend before you set the hook. Air temp was 80 and sunny

    1. King_Fisher 0
@ConstanFidie will do! Thanks for the advice!
    2. ConstanFidie 0
just keep track how many inches and weight of the fish you catch, good luck
    3. King_Fisher 0
Yeah I new Virginia had one I just never realize that my fisg would certify until afterwards! @ConstanFidie
    4. ConstanFidie 0
if you get so many trophy certs you will get a master angler cert from the state govenor
    5. ConstanFidie 0
every state has an angler recognition program just google it
    6. King_Fisher 0
@ConstanFidie really! I've caught three or four citation fish and never thought of it till afterwards! Lol
    7. ConstanFidie 0

      @Pabucks thanks man!
    9. Steve Toth 0
Cool, glad to here it worked!
    10. King_Fisher 0
And water was warm and clear. Fish were hanging on the gravel bottoms just out side cover so heavy tippet was important.

Got a bunch of bass and bluegill on this as well as a few carp takes on weightless version of one of these today so I came home and tied up a few more but weighted ...more I'm thinking they'll kill for smallmouth as well! Any ideas for a name for this pattern I'm thinking the creepy crawly.

LEWS LFS OR A LEWS MB SPEED SPOOL. 2 of the lightest reels I've ever felt and my LFS throws anything from 1/8 oz rebel grasshoppers to 2.2 oz Huddleston 68's. ...more I've even got it paired on a duckett ghos
    16. redtoptech 0
I've had my revo3sx for a few weeks now and absolutely love it! super light, high quality and feels great in your hand. I found that the gears are dry out of ...more the box so you should grease before use
    17. Marcus Lane 0
Can't go wrong with the Lews - but I love my Revo! I also think how it feels in your hand makes a big difference - especially when you're fishing for any ...more length of time. Hope you find the right one 4u

  8. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Bare cat 4/0 wide gap hook, 10lbs mono, ml casting rod, 6:41 reel.

Nice very aggressive male I got yesterday I was reeling up a catfish rod that lost his bait and he took the bare hook right next to the dock in about 3fow. Water ...more was in the 60s and clear and air temp was in the low 80s and sunny. These males were pretty much eating any thing that looked fishy saw some big females on there beds but didn't have my bed gear with me.

  9. Details: Largemouth Bass with a Articulated junkyard dog, 3' of 1x tippet, orvis bass FWF 7wt. Fly line, 9' 7wt. Fly rod.

Nice male that was guarding a bed yesterday I threw my fly in he slammed it as soon as it hit the water missed the Hook set through it in again same thing third ...more time he took jumped of and I kept stripping and he came back and nailed it again! Air temp was 80 and sunny and water was warm and clear saw some big females on there bed as well but they all had lock jaw!

    1. King_Fisher 0
      @TheDirtyPelican agreed man!
    2. TheDirtyPelican 0
Yeah I hear ya. I love catchin em on my 8wt. Seems like 1 fish on fly is worth 10 on regular spinning or bait casing gear.
    3. King_Fisher 0
Yeah I had my fly rod so I didn't really have the gear to work them hard @TheDirtyPelican
    4. TheDirtyPelican 0
I'm down in Florida so most of the spawn is over but I fish a springfed river and they are atill on beds. None of the females would eat either. Funny.

My dad and I tonight for about and hour through my fly right about 2ft out side se timber in about 2ft I've water and saw her rise ...more up below it and slurp it down! Air temp was 70 and post thunder storm and water was warm and clear. Fishing is my second love after playing music. Small mouth are my favorite species to catch but I fish for large mouth and cat fish the most.
