Tried to fish brearly bar for several hours. Saw fish on graph but they would not eat even when I dropped a jig right on 'em and worked it right above 'em! ...more So finicky. Dropped down camera and saw goood looking rocky bottom. Finally cast out tube and let it sit while I did something else. Suddenly rod began to bend! Nice fat Smallmouth! My first fish from offshore structure.

I then dropped 5 marker ...more buoys and began casting along the edge using a Green Pumpkin Berkley PowerBait MaxScent The General on a Flick-Shake rig, or a Jig-Wacky. I barely felt any bite, just a ever-so-subtle weight or pull. I set the hook, fought for 3 minutes, and this sucker got belly-lifted into the boat after a drag-sizzling run. Also picked up a smaller Bass and a Walleye.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST! Got out at 7:15 and flipped bank. Came up to a bush extending over water. Flipped up blue/brown 3/8oz timber-style jig with brown craw trailer. ...more Felt jig ticking brush - something like a pine tree was down there. Flipped back, 5lb 20" bass! As I later found out by making a countour map with AutoChart live on my Humminbird, the brush was where the breakline of an underwater point swung towards the bank and became a shorline break. This crook or inside bend was a funnel for bait and also a staging area fro bass to rest before they move up and spawn. Though the water was warm enough to spawn the fish were not on beds. Med-heavy power fast -action 6'6" 13 fishing Omen Black rod and 13 fishing Inception baitcast reel with 17lb Berkley Fireline Ultra 8 in crystal/20lb Bass Pro Excel flourocarbon.
