1. Badin Lake Catfish Report 06/12 Arrived on the lake at 0630, shad are once again scattered but had slightly more luck than last week. Again the majority of bait ...more came via sabiki rig, white perch specifically. Anchored up waiting for the wind we had a lot of activity on the dam side of the railroad trestle in the channel but no hookups. Once the wind arrived and we began our drifts the bite cut off. Three fish from 0930 to 1520 two channel cats and a nice largemouth. We tried anchoring, drifting, deep, shallow, main lake and gar creek with no luck. On the last drift of the day, 10 minutes before packup on a hump Old Whitney side of the railroad trestle every rod went down. Two rods specifically began stripping drag, unbelievably a 20 lb blue ate two separate baits and was landed on 2 rods. We landed 4 fish total on that spot the other three being much smaller fish.

  2. Badin Lake Catfish report. Boat in the water at Old Whitney at 0630, Shad appear scattered, threw cast net for two hours with no result. However White Bass/Perch ...more were hitting Sabiki rigs, three at a time in the channel on the dam side of the railroad trestle.

Anchored we only caught one small catfish, however the wind picked up at 1100 enough to drift cutbait. Starting from the railroad trestle and drifting towards the dam we caught 11 fish between 5-10 lbs on the first drift in 13-20ft. The second drift was similar.

On the third drift late in the afternoon the bite changed, with most bites on the drop off in 22-28 ft, landed 2 15lb + fish and had one fish break new 40lb mono in the rod holder (not the leader) on a huge strike. Also had a potential Striper strike on a suspended live bait, but it came unbuttoned quickly.
