1. Greetings Fishidy community.
I've had the pleasure of fishing the past few charters in the backcountry and bay sides of Everglades National Park- the back ...more is very consistent with numbers right now! ...If you want quantity, rod bending action, the back is where it's at. Our average trip has yielded 20+ juvenile Snook- all on MiroDine plugs and/ or tan and white Fly patterns. All on 40lb. fluorocarbon leader, 20 lb braid and most in South Whitewater bay on dropping tides! Although the Tarpon action is steady right now, the quantities of the summer time are just not there. However, if you want Tarpon, they are still found rolling in small schools- if you find the bait then you shall find the them! They too are swallowing MiroDine plugs worked in "twitch, twitch wait" patterns, they also cannot resist a strategically presented fly casted to a rolling school. As the water begins to cool, our target can switch (based on client desire) to black drum and other species. Book with us today, until then, tight lines all!

  2. Details: Snook and Tarpon! with a mirrodine

  3. Greetings Fishidy community. Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing with Dr. Sanchez from Miramar Fl. We started the day in the "back" water of ENP ...more and found rolling Tarpon immediately- at our first spot. We threw MirroDine plugs on 25 lb test leader and 20 lb POWER pro braid. After 12+ "jumped fish" off of south Whitewater bay we picked up my Dolphin super skiff and switched our tactics to the "front"/ bay side of Flamingo. We headed east and switched spin for Fly gear off of East Cape channel. It wasn't long before we had double hooks up's and closed the day by boating two juvenile kings on the fly! I can't recall a better half day charter!

Water condition update...STILL DIRTY. Nature is resilient..The fishing is GOOD but the landscape is still recovering!

12 lb. Tarpon with a fly

  4. Hello there Fishidy community, This week I was able to pre-fish on Thursday and gather fishing intel for my clients. Our beloved Everglades National Park was beat ...more up by Irma...There are lots of heavy, random seaweed patches- other than that we didn't come across many other debris patches. Additionally, there are PLENTY of blowdowns and lots of broken off mangrove trees that were lifted and dropped miles from their original location. In the near future these broken off trees will become new spots as will new channels that have formed as a results of heavy winds and current. As for the water quality... there are several good stretches of water, although we found those closer to Key Largo. The fishing...we located rolling Tarpon and jumped at least two within the first 20 minutes of the trip. Fished a bit for Snapper and found two in the 12-15 in. class within a school of 10 or more. We closed the trip looking for Snook on the fly and picked up two on an 8-weight with a tan colored fly on 20 lb. leader. All in all, the fishing was better than I expected, I do expect the water quality to improve in the coming weeks.

WARNING to my fellow captains and boaters. The channels leading out of Flamingo AND those right of front of the park HAVE SHIFTED! Be mindful that a dredging project will commence shortly in the park...I recommend that you "expect the unexpected" while navigating, there are multiple markers that have been blown down, some of which are left floating or blown over- in some cases they've landed in what used to be the channel. BE SAFE friends!

I do have charters available within the coming days, contact us today!
