1. I am expecting to be relocating to Flagstaff AZ in the next month or two. Does anyone have any suggested places within a couple of hours for me to start researching ...more so I can get my fishing fix as quickly as possible. I fish everything from reservoir carp with my 7 wt flyrod to spinning gear or bow to backpacking in for smallmouth bass and trout with my 3wt fly rod. The goal is to get out and fish and hopefully catch a couple.

  2. The largemouth are starting to hit in the small city ponds as water temperatures begin to climb into the 50 degree range. I picked up my first of the year on April ...more 4th and caught a couple more today - all on soft plastics. Today's were my first fish on a drop-shot senko, I may need to work this into the rotation a bit more frequently

  3. I had a couple of good hours at CJ Strike Reservoir yesterday, despite the high winds, bright sunshine, dirty water, and high flows coming out of the dam. I picked ...more up 3 smallmouth and 2 largemouth, one over 2 pounds, from under the bridge just downstream of the dam. All 5 fish were on a Bagley, dark red bluegill colored shallow diving crankbait.

As always, remember to use two hands when handling your fish for catch and release to avoid damaging jaw muscles - Cheers!!

  4. I'm thinking about heading over to CJ Strike Reservoir tomorrow, anyone out there have any info on the action? I'm contemplating searching for cats and ...more bass from the bank.

  5. Picked up 5 largemouth over at Julie Davis park in the rain this evening here in Boise. All were in the 1 - 2 pound range and hit a 1 - 2 inch white paddle-tail ...more swim bait on a 1/8 ounce jig head.

  6. I went out to Lucky Peak Reservoir two days ago and fished the docks around the Marina. Not a lot of action but I did manage to pickup a single smallmouth from ...more about 4 feet of water on a hammered, gold finish spoon. The water is a little stained and the temperature feels right around 60 or so at the bank. Looking forward to the lake leveling off and the fish to settle down.

  7. I went out to the Julia Davis Park pond with my 5 wt flyrod here in Boise last night and picked up two nice largemouth between 1 and 2 pounds each. I was fishing ...more along the north side of the pond and within 5 yards of an overhanging tree and/or the pond wall. I was throwing a small bodied, short white and green-tan streamer.

  8. Anyone out there in the Boise area have information on access to the higher lakes around Idaho City or Cascade and how they are fishing? Also, if anyone has any ...more feedback on the local ponds they are willing to share, I am always interested. I was hitting Julia Davis earlier in the season when the water was still a little cool and did pretty well with hook-ups using a 3 inch, green pumpkin YUM craw on the ultra-light rig.
