Alewives are a baitfish. Elongated shape with a black dot behind the gill plate. They are very hyper so the make great bait. I’ve got them at night using a green ...more light to attract them and then throwing a 12 foot cast net. Also have caught them with a sabiki rig.

Sorry for late reply Aaron. Thanks for info. Funny I keep hearing people & guides catching Striper on Bluegill, but TWRA reports refelect that striper primarily ...more eat shad and like 1-5% of their diet consist of other types of game fish. Curious how you rig a bluegill on a U-Rig. Do you use just one blue gill with swimbaits or multiple blue gills? And where do you hook the bluegill at? I also heard you need to troll fast, like 2.5-3 mph, but most people I ever see go very slow (at least in the summer).
3 to 5 inch blue gill free swimming 17 to 25 ft deep, downriging umbrella rig with Cannon easi troll rigs 17 to 28 ft. At 2mph, don't know any secrets but find ...more the bait fish and you usually find the Striper
NIce one! How you rigging your bluegill and what size bluegill you using? Unbrella rig, planers, drifting, trolling & how fast? What are secrets you willing ...more to give up?
I do wht ever is working. My knowledge is of live bait or trolling with jensen divers. Bucktail jigs white, pink do good with plastic minnow on to cause alot of water ...more vibration. Its always a learning experience.
I haven't fished in a couple of weeks, I should be down there in a couple of weeks, I am going to strictly going to do some downriging, not going to have time ...more for live bait, I just hope I can find em.
Oh ok. Bite has been slow for us but weve been on other end of lake. Thinkn of heading down toward dam tomorrow. Weve caught 6 this week. Nothing to write home ...more about.
