Three of us fished 3/4 mile off shore, halfway between the Lakeside pier and the stone loading dock. We fished from 9:00am until noon and caught ...more 80 yellow perch, ranging from 8-12 inches. Emerald shiners on spreaders, no bling and right on the bottom worked best. An interesting fact: while cleaning the fish we notices several had fresh water shrimp in their mouths and bellies.
Beautiful weather with no wind made for a great day.
On 9/4 we fished for yellow perch about 200 yards off the cold creek mouth in 6.3 feet of water. While the emerald shiners were large, we cut them in half with ...more the heads out fishing the tails 2-1. We started about 9:00am with a few 5-6 inch perch and a few jumbo sheephead. About 9:45 the perch started and we caught them fairly regularly for the next 2 hours. We ended up with 31 keepers (8-12 inch) and threw back several short perch, sheephead and 3 catfish. We fished plain spreaders and the bites came after leaving the hooks on bottom for about 15 seconds and pulling up slowly. Really fun fishing when the wind was 15-20 mph keeping us off the lake.
We fished the northwest side of the Sandusky Bay bridge on 8/8/15 in 16 feet of water. We used night crawlers and spreaders near the bottom. We caught about 50 ...more catfish up to 31 inches and about 50 white perch that were kept and eaten. 5 people fished for 2 hours and had a great time.
