Was out on Monona today. Had some musky follows but couldn't get them to bite. They'd follow to the boat, follow the figure 8 at the boat side a few times, ...more then swim away. Jigging the lure got them to follow but they wouldn't bite. If I did a straight retrieve there were no follows. We tried other lures and still no follows or strikes. Suggestions?

Clay Russell 0It wouldn't hurt to greatly speed up as a musky can swim really fast. But, then you might have to make longer casts, if that is possible.

Ron Dorr 0Chad Ford I'll try getting the rod tip down deeper when I do the 8's. Thanks for the head's up. I never really did the figure 8's until I watched ...more some videos this winter and they kept saying it was a MUST. So now that I do the figure 8 and I see the fish, I can't wait to have one hit boat side to see what it feels like! I'm guessing it's incredible.

Chad Ford 0Try lowering the water column during the figure 8 rather than just doing it at the same depth. Easier said than done when a big fat musky is following!! :)
