I was fishing off a pier in Safety Harbor, FL with my dad. We had fished in the same spot the day before and killed it catching everything from catfish, stingrays, ...more ladyfish, and jacks. So we are catching fish left and right using cutbait, and we have 4 rods baited and in the water. The action was hot and heavy. I pull in a stingray and I'm having some trouble getting the hook out of his mouth when all of a sudden we get a hit on one of the rods. next thing i know the entire rod and reel goes flying over the rail and into the bay. The fish then changes direction and crosses all the lines of all 4 rods. If we hadnt been at the rail we would have lost all my gear. I have no idea what kind of fish was on the end but it had to be huge. So if anybody catches that fish they will have a nice combo attached to it. so take it from me, when fishing piers always have your rods secured otherwise they will be swimming with the fishes.
