      Even though we are in the 'deepfreeze' of winter, February ice fishing can get a bad rep. Surprisingly pike shallow most of the year, and I mean shallow! ...more Five feet in February can be hot as long as you are still pulling up green weeds. Many of the metro lakes are filled with small panfish....a big sucker rigged on the shoreline side of those panfish (on a blood hook) are just the change of pace you need to get these big pike to strike. Now get out there and fish those big pike shallow in February!! I'll post another metro hog caught last year February 11th...41"
